THE SERIES

The Trojans push ahead 5-4 in the all-time series after nine matches. The Trojans earn the split on the season series with ODU.

MATCH DETAILS

The Trojans came out sharp, in need of a crucial conference victory over the Panthers, and secured the opening point with Ellie Buffler's first of 19 kills. In the opener, there were 21 ties and eight lead changes to set the tone of the match. The Trojans cashed in on their fourth set point after back-to-back kills from Austyn Baldwin and Lydia Yonce, 30-28.

SET TWO

The teams traded service errors to begin the second, but the difference in this set was the middle portion. Leading 12-10, the Panthers utilized a 7-0 run to extend a nine-point advantage. Despite burning one timeout, the Trojans would not go away. The Trojans countered with a 9-2 run to pull back within a point at 21-20. From there, the set was tied at 23-23, but a Panther kill and service ace doomed things for the Trojans, 25-23.

SET THREE

After dropping the second, things did not go smoothly to begin the third. The Trojans immediately found themselves in a 6-0 hole and needed to call timeout. Out of the break, it was Austyn Baldwin who collected five of her 22 kills to bring the Trojans back within three points at 8-5. When Chloee McDaniel won the service game, things shifted. A 4-1 run sparked by kills from Lydia Yonce, Sami Raley, and Ellie Buffler made it a 9-9 contest causing ODU to call for a breather. A 9-5 run out of the timeout saw Trevecca grasp an 18-14 lead with sights set on winning the set. The Panthers called timeout again, but it was too late. Four crucial kills by Buffler sealed the third set, 25-20.

SET FOUR

Up a set, the Trojans would not be denied victory. A pair of records were set in the fourth as Austyn Baldwin collected five more kills to set a career-high of 22. It was Chloee McDaniel who tacked on 14 assists in the fourth to secure an NCAA school-record of 62 in a single match. McDaniel's record-breaking assist came at 16-15 and proved to be a pivotal point for the Trojans' fourth set efforts. As she did in the third, it was Buffler who finished things for the Trojans with a kill from the left side, 25-19.

TOP PLAYERS
