THE SERIES

Findlay leads the series 2-0-3 after five all-time matches and is the only win by a one-goal margin.

THE MATCH

The battle between two of the top three teams in the Great Midwest very quickly became a battle for possession. Neither team gained control of the ball in their attacking third for a great deal of the half as the score remained 0-0 at the break. All four of the Trojans' shots were taken in the opening 20 minutes as it was the Oilers who applied much of their pressure in the closing minutes of the frame. Findlay led 8-4 in total shots at halftime despite just one of its attempts being registered on goal. The second half saw the Trojans' strikers Makena Schlosser along with Abbigail Legg test Findlay keeper Kennedy Slovak a total of four times in the opening 12 minutes, but neither could breakthrough. In fact, two of the Oilers' five shots occurred in the closing minutes as the hosts would rely on their defense to force extra time. A combined three shots were taken by both squads in the first extra-time period, to no avail. The Oilers would breakthrough in the final period, though. It was a game-winner from Sage Schnell in the 104th to push Findlay to the top of the Great Midwest table. Schnell's goal was serviced by Hannah Rybicki and Madleine Nartker.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • The Trojans lost for the first time in Great Midwest play.
  • It was the first time this season an extra time match did not yield a point for Trevecca.
  • Four different Trojans collected two shots as Trevecca tallied 12 as a team.

UP NEXT

The Trojans host just a single match next week when Ursuline College (2-4, 1-3 Great Midwest) visits the Trojan Soccer Complex on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
