Box Score NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (10-5, 3-3 Great Midwest) jumped ahead of Tiffin University (5-11, 3-3 Great Midwest) in the Great Midwest standings by defeating the Dragons in three sets on Friday evening in Trojan Fieldhouse.

THE SERIES
The seventh all-time meeting between Trevecca and Tiffin saw the Trojans victorious. The Trojans pull to within a game of the Dragons who lead the series, 4-3.
MATCH DETAILS
The Trojans never trailed in the first after securing the match's opening point. Outside of the Dragons attack errors, four different Trojans collected the first four kills. It was Austyn Baldwin who tallied five of her 13 kills to lead the Trojans' effort. The opening set was highlighted by an 8-0 run to put things out of reach at 21-11 and ultimately closed off the first set, 25-13.
SET TWO
The Trojans earned the first three points in the set and once again never trailed in the second set. Three was the common theme to this set as the Trojans led by the margin as many as nine times throughout. This go around it was a 5-0 run by the Trojans at 10-7 which sunk the Dragons. Although Tiffin managed to pull back within three at 23-20, it was too not enough to overcome the deficit.
SET THREE
For the first time on the evening, the Dragons led after securing the first point in the third. It was an Ellie Buffler attack error that paved the way for Tiffin. The third and ultimately final set was by far the most competitive as the Dragons showed fight in the later stages. In fact, the Dragons tied the set at 18-18 before Ellie Buffler kill and Tiffin attack error forced a timeout. Out of the break, the Trojans rallied for three straight points, putting the set out of hand. An attack error ended things as Trevecca earned its fifth sweep of the season, hanging on for the 25-21 win.
TOP PLAYERS
Austyn Baldwin led the way with a .706 hitting percentage while collecting a team-high 13 kills to pair with a block and an assist.
On the other end, for Tiffin, it was Taylor Peterson who reached double figures with 10 kills while hitting .350.
THE TEAMS
The Trojans outhit Ashland .340 to .127. The Trojans led in kills 45-33 and assists, 42-33.
UP NEXT
The Trojans finish off their three-match week by hosting Great Midwest newcomer Ashland University (6-7, 5-0 Great Midwest) tomorrow afternoon. First serve with the Eagles is set for 12 p.m.
