SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
It was the twelfth ever meeting between Trevecca and Findlay, and the third meeting this season, although one of the games did not count towards either team's Great Midwest record. Findlay now leads the all-time series, 11-0.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a strong start for the Trojans, contending with the Oilers in the game's first few minutes. Brendan Newton scored four of Trevecca's first seven points, and the Trojans led 7-4 five minutes in. Findlay earned an 11-9 lead halfway through the first half, and the Trojans would not lead again the rest of the way. Findlay's lead ballooned up to 28-11 with 4:30 to go before halftime, but Trevecca closed the first half with a 10-0 run to trail 28-21 at halftime.
Findlay came out fast in the second half, scoring seven straight points before Trevecca got back on the board with an Adam Webb jumper that made it a 35-23 Findlay lead with 17 minutes to play. The Oilers did not break their rhythm, however, and continued to shoot it well, outscoring Trevecca 43-16 in the second half on their way to a 71-37 victory.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
In only his second game back after a layoff that lasted over a month, Brendan Newton went six of seven for 14 points and six rebounds to lead the Trojans. Newton was the only Trojan in double figures, as Imani Starling scored eight, Austin Wills scored five, and Adam Webb scored four.
Findlay's Nathan Bruns led the Oilers with 14 points and five rebounds on six of 11 shooting.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
Trevecca shot 32.6% from the floor, converting 15-of-46 attempts. The Trojans could only muster two three-pointers on 15 attempts and knocked down five of 13 free throw attempts. The Trojans outrebounded Findlay 34-30, but surrendered 31 points off its 21 turnovers.
Findlay knocked down 27-of-55 shots from the floor for a 49% clip, and 12-of-25 three-pointers at 48%.
WHAT'S NEXT
After wrapping up a two-game homestand, Trevecca will hit the road next Thursday for a rematch against Walsh, then will turn around and head to Malone on January 30.
The next Trevecca game at Trojan Fieldhouse will be Thursday, February 4 against Ohio Dominican.
