HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1 Lock Haven:
Trevecca got its bats going early, scoring a run in the top of the first inning when MaKray Odom reached on a bunt single, went to second on a sacrifice bunt by Lenna Robinson, and came home on a double by Carly Sperlich. Odom got an RBI for herself in the next inning, as her bases loaded single brought home Sidney Brake to make it 2-0 Trojans. Lock Haven got a run back in the bottom half to trim the Trevecca lead to 2-1, but the Trojans exploded for eight runs on seven hits to take a 10-1 lead and blow the game open. Anna Bennett smacked a two-run homer – her second of the season – and Odom, Robinson and Megan Groves all had RBI singles in the inning for Trevecca, which had 14 hits in the romp.
GAME 2 Northwood:
The nightcap wasn't the prettiest game for the Trojans, as they were outhit, 10-8, by the Timberwolves and committed four errors as well, but a four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth inning was enough to give Trevecca the win. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth, when Bennett's two-out, RBI double brought home pinch-runner Emilee Bundy. Bundy was running for Groves, who doubled down the left field line with one out to get the rally started. Northwood got an unearned run in the top of the fifth to tie the game, but Trevecca came back in the bottom half with four runs on five hits to go up 5-1. Groves was the hero this time, launching a grand slam – her second homer of the year – to bring in Robinson, Odom and Matti Byrd, who had reached on an error and a pair of singles, respectively, to load the bases. The Timberwolves got one more unearned run in the top of the sixth to trim Trevecca's lead to 5-2, but they could get no closer and the Trojans were able to close out a sweep of the day's games.
