SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
In the NCAA Division II era, the Falcons own a 7-5 edge in the series, though the Trojans are currently on a five-game winning streak.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The visiting Trojans put two runs on the board in the first when Ethan Harrison led the season off with a double and reached third off a wild pitch. Dalton Mauldin's triple scored Harrison while Mauldin was brought in by a Bryant Goolsby single. The Falcons split the deficit in half with a run in the bottom of the third. A leadoff walk led to a steal and an RBI double plated the first Montevallo run. The home team scored again in the fourth to tie it at 2-2. The Trojans opened the game up in the sixth with a seven-run inning. The seven-run inning was thanks to the first seven Trojans reaching base safely. The sequence of error-single-single-walk-hbp-single-hbp yielded four runs and a 6-2 lead. A fielder's choice scored Joseph McNamee and then Dalton Mauldin belted a two-run single to score both Ethan Harrison and Shawn Wallwork. Montevallo received their third and final run in the seventh before the Trojans produced a five-run top of the eighth. John O'Dwyer and Bryant Goolsby singles scored one run and then a three-run double from Joseph McNamee brought in three. Tyler Koprowski (1-0) received the win for his three and a third innings of work in which he struck out four.
