HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1:  The Trojans NFCA All-American shortstop MaKray Odom continued to see the ball well in Huntsville. In the top of the first facing a full count, Odom singled up the middle and entered scoring position on a throwing error by the UAH catcher. After stealing third, Odom put the Trojans up 1-0 when a muffed throw from the UAH third baseman allowed her to score. The Chargers responded with an RBI double in the home half of the first to tie the game at 1-1. In the second the first three Trojans reached base safely. Brooke Eakes started things with a lead-off single then an Alyssa Triner double put two Trojans in scoring position. Matti Byrd connected for a go-ahead single to center which scored Eakes. Byrd later scored from second when Abbie Page singled up the middle to give the Trojans a 3-1 lead. A two-run home run from UAH in the bottom of the second tied it at 3-3. Neither team would score for the next three frames until the Trojans broke open the game with a three-run sixth inning. In the sixth Matti Byrd led things off with a single. Emilee Bundy pinch ran for Byrd and scored off MaKray Odom's fourth hit of the afternoon. Megan Groves brought in Abbie Page (singled) off a hit to right field and the Trojans went ahead 6-3 when Carly Sperlich doubled to left to bring in Odom. The Chargers got one run back in the bottom of the seventh, but it wasn't enough as the Trojans finished them off for a 6-4 win.

GAME 2: The Trojans once again scored in the first inning, putting up a three spot against the Chargers. MaKray Odom led off the game with a single and Carly Sperlich drove her in with a single with two outs. Kelsey Seitz then went yard to give the Trojans a 3-0 lead. UAH would not respond until the bottom of the second when they got two runs back off a two-run double. The Chargers then took a 7-3 lead, scoring five runs off three hits in the third inning. The young Trojans did not back down. With two runners on and two outs, the Trojans pounded out four hits to score six runs in the fourth inning. Lenna Robinson's single tied the game at 7-7 then Megan Groves connected for a two-run shot to right centerfield to boast the Trojans ahead 9-7. However, a two-run cushion was not enough. Back in the box in the fifth inning, the Trojans plated five runs off six hits (four singles and two doubles). UAH got a run back in both the bottom of the fifth and sixth and two in the seventh, but fell 14-11 to TNU.
