Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn– The Trevecca Nazarene University Men's Basketball team won its first game of the 2020-2021 season on Saturday, as the Trojans (1-4, 1-3 G-MAC) pulled away late to beat the Ohio Valley Fighting Scots (1-4, 1-4 G-MAC) on the road, 76-69.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES
It was the fifteenth ever meeting between Trevecca and Ohio Valley, and the win gave the Trojans the 11-4 all-time advantage.
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was a tight game the whole way through, and the Trojans got on top early, leading Ohio Valley 10-5 with a three-pointer by Chris Rogers five minutes into the contest. Rogers had 10 first half points. A layup by Brendan Newton gave Trevecca its biggest lead of the first half, 15-9, with 13:28 to play before the break. Ohio Valley then went on a 13-2 run that gave the Fighting Scots a 22-17 lead with 7:22 to play in the first half. Rogers hit two free throws to close out the half with a 32-31 Trevecca lead.
The second half remained a neck-and-neck contest nearly the entire way, with no big runs from either team. Rogers scored 11 of his 21 total points in the second half, running the point alongside Imani Starling, who contributed 34 minutes. Ohio Valley's last lead of the game was 54-53 with 6:28 to play, and Trevecca started to pull away. Trevecca outscored Ohio Valley 23-15 down the stretch, with offensive contributions from Austin Wills, Calvin Walker, Rogers, and Adam Webb. Wills scored two three-pointers during this run, and the Trojans closed the game out with free throws to win 76-69.
Cameron Shaw led the Fighting Scots in scoring with 18 points, hitting 13 of them at the free throw line. Parker Black contributed 16 points and 6 rebounds on six-of-15 shooting.
PLAYER STATS BREAKDOWN
Four Trojans scored in double figures as Trevecca picked up its first win of the season. Rogers led with 21 points on six-of-13 shooting, and Wills converted five-of-13 three-point attempts to score 17 points with seven rebounds. Post players Brendan Newton and Adam Webb posted 10 points apiece, with five and eight rebounds, respectively.
Walker contributed seven points off the bench, and Starling scored six points on two-of-five shooting.
TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN
Trevecca had one of its best shooting performances of the season, shooting 24-of-55 (43.6%) and hitting 11 of 32 three-pointers. Trevecca was dominant on the boards, as post players Brendan Newton and Adam Webb played just their second game together. The Trojans outrebounded Ohio Valley 43-31, and limited the Fighting Scots to just six three-pointers on 25 attempts. Trevecca was 17-of-23 on the free throw line, compared to Ohio Valley's 21-of-28.
WHAT'S NEXT
Trevecca will return to Nashville before hitting the road again to close out the 2020 calendar year with a New Year's Eve date at Kentucky Wesleyan.
The Great Midwest home opener for the Trojans will be on January 4 against Walsh.
