MONTEVALLO, Ala. – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer (0-0-1) season kicked off with a double-overtime draw against the University of Montevallo (0-0-1) at Georgine Lemak Field on Thursday.

The two squads had never played before tonight.

THE MATCH

Despite a combined 13 shots by both squads in the match's opening 30 minutes, neither team would concede … after earning a trip inside the box, Montevallo's Samara Lino missed a penalty kick off the post at 33:15 … the score remained 0-0 at halftime … the second half saw much of the same style of play … both keepers were tested, though neither conceded … Makena Schlosser (SO/Indianapolis, IN) drew a penalty kick at 86:23 but the shot was saved by Montevallo keeper, Annie Mason … Mason was the difference for the rest of the match as the 0-0 score held through 110 minutes.

WOMAN OF THE MATCH

Trevecca keeper, Delayna Holman (SO/Shepherdsville, KY) stopped all eight shots she faced tonight. The sophomore collected nine clean sheets last season.

WHAT THE RESULT MEANS

*The draw leaves the Trojans with a point and in second place in the G-MAC with the rest of the conference beginning action this weekend.   

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca heads further south to Pensacola, Florida to face their first top 10 opponent of the season on Saturday. #8 West Florida (0-0-0) hosts Trevecca at 1 PM in the UWF Soccer Complex.
