NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer (1-3-2, 1-0-0 Great Midwest) claimed their first win of the year and their first conference win of the year with a 3-1 decision over Kentucky Wesleyan College at the Trevecca Soccer Complex.

THE SERIES

The Trojans and Panthers met for the 13th time on Saturday. The Trojans own an 9-3-1 all-time lead in the series, having won the last seven fixtures. During their unbeaten run, the Trojans have outscored the Panthers 16-6.

 

THE MATCH

The Trojans scored early on Gigi Ariola's goal in the 16th minute, scoring off an assist from Annie Warner. It was Ariola's first career goal. Less than 10 minutes (24:08) later Annie Warner scored her first career goal on the first career assist by Abbigail Legg. Madisyn Hunt scored her 10th goal of the season for the Panthers at 88:03 to cut the Trojan lead to one. The Trojans didn't let the two-goal margin evaporate for long as Kimberly Jobe scored her first career goal just 15 seconds (88:18) later on Abbigail Legg's second assist of the night. Delayna Holman saved three of the four shots on goal in 90 minutes in goal.

 

WOMAN OF THE MATCH

Annie Warner scored her first career goal and delivered her first career assist racking up her first three career points.  

 

WHAT THE RESULT MEANS

All three goals were the first collegiate goal for the three different Trojans who scored tonight.

In fact, all four goals scored this year are off the foot of four different players and it is the first collegiate goal for each (Danielle Joy scored versus Ashland Thursday).  

 

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca welcomes Cedarville University (2-3, 1-0-0 Great Midwest) on Thursday for a 7 PM match. Trevecca leads the all-time series 6-4-3, winning the last meeting 1-0 at the Trevecca Soccer Complex. Trevecca is 4-1-2 at home versus Cedarville.

 

The Trojans will host Ohio Dominican University (2-3, 0-1-0 Great Midwest) on Saturday at 2:30 PM. Trevecca is 2-1-0 versus the Panthers all-time, winning the last two meetings.

 

Cedarville defeated Ohio Dominican 1-0 in OT today.
