Box Score 2 LOUISVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-5) lost their opener early at the Bellarmine Classic in a non-conference match against conference foe Cedarville (3-4). The Yellow Jackets topped the Trojans 3-0 (23-25, 25-27, 12-25) at Knights Hall on the Bellarmine Campus. In their second match, Trevecca fell 3-1 (19-25,20-25,25-18,8-25) to host Bellarmine (7-3).ÂÂ

Trevecca opened the match controlling most of the first set and led by as many as seven … Trevecca led 20-14, but Cedarville closed the set on an 11-3 run … Cedarville continued the run in the second set, starting up 8-3 … Trevecca responded with a 9-1 run to take a 12-9 lead, the match remained close, with Trevecca leading 19-15 Cedarville used a 4-1 run to tie the set at 19-19, with the match tied 24-24, Cedarville close with a 3-1 run and the extended points win … Trevecca led 5-4 early in the third set, but the Yellow Jackets took control and won 25-12.

MATCH TWO: Trevecca 1, Bellarmine 3
Bellerman opened the match with an 8-1 lead in the first set with five different players earning a kill or more … Trevecca used a 6-4 run to close the Knights lead to five at 24-19, but the Knights earned the next point for the set win … the Trojans hit .108 (8 K, 4 E, 37 TA) while BU hit .255 (19 K, 7 E, 47 TA) … Trevecca held the lead on several occasions at the start of the second set, leading 8-7 on a Madison Martin kill from a Chloee McDaniel set … a 9-4 run by the hosts put the Knights up 16-11, but a 5-2 Trojan run pulled the visitors to within one (16-17) … from there the Knights gained some breathing room and held off the Trojans 25-20 … in the third set, Trevecca turned a 4-4 tie into a 9-5 lead with a 5-2 run and never relinquished the lead going on to for the seven-point (25-18) win, Trojans hit .440 (13 K, 2 E, 25 TA) in the set … a 7-1 Bellarmine start portended the result of the fourth and final set, one the Knights claimed 25-8.
