JACKSON – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-3) fell in five sets 26-28, 24-26, 25-23, 25-19, 11-15 to Union University (5-3) on Tuesday night in Delay Gym.

THE SERIES

Tonight marked 31st match the two teams have played. Before tonight's loss, the Trojans had won four of the last six games. The Bulldogs own a 27-14 advantage in the all-time series.

THE MATCHES  

GAME ONE: Trevecca 2, Union 3

The first set lead changed teams quite frequently … leading 17-14 the Bulldogs created separation with three consecutive kills … off Chloee McDaniel (FR/Hendersonville, TN)'s serve the Trojans responded with an 8-2 run to tie the set at 22-22 … though trailing by as many as six points late in the opener the Trojans dropped the set 28-26 … the Trojans again extended the Bulldogs in the second set falling 26-24 … facing a two-set deficit the Trojans managed to attack 32 times and create three service aces in the third set to win 25-23 … the Trojans won the most decisive set 25-19 in the fourth to force a winner take all fifth set … the Trojans opened the fifth set with a 3-1 advantage off a Madison Martin (SO/Martinsville, IN) kill, an attack error by Union and a Chloee McDaniel service ace … the early lead was not enough as the Bulldogs rallied to win the fifth set 15-11.

TOP PLAYER

Chloee McDaniel played in all five sets recording five kills and 46 assists. The setter also produced 10 digs and one service ace with a team-best .556 hitting percentage.

THE TEAM

The Trojans hit .281 (65 K, 17 E, 171 TA) producing 52 assists, 11 service aces, 56 digs, and eight blocks.

WHAT'S NEXT 

Trevecca returns to Kentucky for another weekend tournament. The Trojans play four games over two days as part of the Bellarmine Classic.

On Friday the Trojans challenge Cedarville (2-4) at 8:00 AM and then the hosts Bellarmine (5-3) at 12:15 PM. 
Saturday holds the Trojans seeing Georgia College and State University (4-2) at 8 AM and then finishing the tournament with a meeting against Truman State University (3-5) at 4:30 PM.
