MASON, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball Trojans (28-20, 20-10 G-MAC) defeated Walsh University (27-23, 19-13 G-MAC) 4-2 in the opening round of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships played at Legacy Field on Wednesday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES:

Trevecca improves to 3-1 all-time against Walsh with the 4-2 win. The two teams split last season's meeting in Nashville and played one other time in Nashville, an 8-2 win for Trevecca.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE

Trojan batters managed one hit through three innings and fell behind 2-0 when Walsh received back-to-back RBI singles from Eric Conner and Andrew Czech in the third … John O'Dwyer (JR/Nashville, TN) hit a game-tying single to right field to bring home both Dalton Mauldin (JR/Lake City, FL) (single) and Javier Lopez (SR/Lawrenceville, GA ) (double) … Mauldin later doubled to score Trey Vanderpool (JR/Dacula, GA) (walk) and gave the Trojans a 3-2 lead in the fifth … in the seventh the Trojans secured their 4-2 leadoff Dalton Mauldin's RBI single which scored Chandler Miller (JR/Marietta, GA) (HBP).

PLAYER / TEAM STAT REPORT

Dalton Mauldin led the way going 3-4 with two RBI … John O'Dwyer went 1-4 with a two-run double … Javier Lopez finished 2-4 with a run scored … Jake Roberson (SR/Springfield, TN) started and went 7.2 innings … Roberson improved to 9-2 on the season by striking out four and allowing just two runs … Roberson was relieved by Jay Bernard who threw 1.1 innings and struck out one batter.

Trevecca used eight hits and two walks to pace their offense … the Trojans committed two errors … Walsh received six hits and drew five walks while committing one error.

The Trojans face off against the #7 seeded Tiffin University Dragons (21-29, 17-15 G-MAC) at 6 PM at Legacy Field. The two teams will meet for the first time ever.
