JACKSON, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball Trojans (14-13, 7-5) defeated Union University (9-23, 3-15 GSC), 8-7 at Fesmire Field on Tuesday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES:

Since 2001, Trevecca owns a 27-22-1 advantage in the series. Union defeated Trevecca last year in Nashville, but the Trojans are 9-2-1 vs. the Bulldogs in the last 12 meetings. The Trojans have won the last five meetings in Jackson.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Trojans scored two in the top of the first when Javier Lopez doubled to bring in both Trey Vanderpool (walk) and Dalton Mauldin (single) to score … the Bulldogs matched the Trojans with a pair in the bottom half of the inning … Union led 4-2 after the second and held a 5-2 lead entering the fifth inning … the Trojans tacked on two in the fifth when Bryant Goolsby had a two-run single which brought in Braden Odom (single) and Dalton Mauldin (walk) … Trevecca tied the game at 5-5 in the sixth inning when John O'Dwyer scored off of Daniel Lankster grounding into a fielder's choice … the Trojans extended their lead to 8-5 in the top of the 8^th … Trey Vanderpool doubled to bring in Chandler Miller and Braden Odom who both reached base with a walk … Vanderpool later scored when Dalton Mauldin singled to left field … Union scored two more in the bottom half of the 8^th, but the Trojans hung on to win 8-7.

PLAYER / TEAM STAT REPORT

Dalton Mauldin (3-4) brought in a run and drew a walk … Braden Odom (2-2) drew three walks and scored two runs … Trey Vanderpool (2-5) drove in two runs and walked once … Hunter Davis started and tossed two innings, striking out two and allowing four runs … Gideon McKee (1-1) earned his first win of the season and Jay Bernard received his first save.

Trevecca had 11 hits to Union's 5 … TNU drew eight walks while UU had five … the two errors in the game came from Trojan fielders.

 Trevecca hosts Great Midwest leader Ohio Dominican University (16-11, 10-4 G-MAC) Friday and Saturday for a pair of doubleheaders at Jackson Field. Trevecca leads the all-time series 5-0.
