HILLSDALE, MI – The Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball Trojans (23-18, 16-8 G-MAC) split the opening two of a four-game set against, Hillsdale (19-22, 13-12 G-MAC) 9-3 and 22-11, on Friday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES:

With the split, the all-time series favors Hillsdale 4-5 dating back to 2015. The Trojans took three of the first four games played in 2015 but played for the first time since Hillsdale joined the G-MAC in 2017.

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE

Sam Mang (SR/Woodstock, GA) connected for a single in the top of the first to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead … a pair of sacrifice flies from Bryant Goolsby (FR/Carthage, TN) and Sam Mang in the third gave the Trojans a 3-0 lead until the Chargers answered with two in the bottom half of the inning … Trevecca opened the game up in the sixth by plating five runs off a pair of RBI singles (Daniel Lankster (SR/Hendersonville, TN), Braden Odom (SO/Chesterfield, IN)), a solo home run (Sam Mang) and a two-run double (Trey Vanderpool (JR/Dacula, GA)) … Trevecca scored once more in the seventh and held onto the 9-3 lead for the win.

GAME TWO

Trevecca scored a run in the first, but Hillsdale responded with a 10 spot in the bottom half of the inning … the Trojans added four more in the second, but the Chargers once again answered this time with two more … the first scoreless frame was the top of the third … the Chargers extended the lead to 16-5 in the bottom of the third … the Trojans added sixth in the fourth to pull within 16-11 … Hillsdale added three in the bottom half of the fourth to go ahead 19-11 … the Trojans would not score again, though Hillsdale added its final three runs in the fifth … HC won 22-11.

GAME ONE

John O'Dwyer (JR/Nashville, TN) went 3-5 with a run scored … Sam Mang (2-4, three RBIs) and Javier Lopez (SR/Lawrenceville, GA ) (2-5, two runs) also had multi-hit games … Trey Vanderpool and Daniel Lankster both drove in two runs … Jake Roberson (SR/Springfield, TN) pitched his second consecutive complete game, striking out six … Roberson improved to 7-4 on the season by allowing just three runs and issuing three walks.

GAME TWO

The Trojans bottom of the lineup produced five runs … John O'Dwyer went 3-4 with three RBIs … John Anderson (JR/Nashville, TN) hit two home runs going 2-4 … Daniel Lankster was also 2-4 … Tyler Koprowski (SO/Canton, GA) started and only recorded two outs … Koprowski allowed eight earned runs and three walks … Tanner Killian (FR/Cookeville, TN) came on for an inning and two-thirds of relief … Killian also allowed eight earned runs … Tiger Cox (JR/Nolensville, TN) then saw action tossing an inning and a third … Hunter Davis (FR/Gordonsville, TN) and Andrew Blount (JR/Birmingham, AL) finished out the game on the mound.
