NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball Trojans (13-13, 7-5) split a pair of games Sunday with Kentucky Wesleyan College (12-14, 7-5 G-MAC), 4-6, 10-1, at Jackson Field.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES:

Trevecca leads the all-time series 13-10, but the Panthers have won seven of the last eleven meetings.    

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME ONE: The Panthers scored first with a two-run third inning and never trailed in the seven-inning meeting … Trevecca plated a run in the fourth … KWC put four on the board in the fifth with three consecutive doubles and a two-run home run with their first four batters in the frame … Trevecca made it interesting with a run in the fifth and two in the sixth

GAME TWO: Wesleyan scored their lone run in the top of the first as three Trojan pitchers scattered nine hits and six walks luring the Panthers into leaving 13 men on base … Trevecca responded with a three-run third, collecting the game winning runs – Braden Odom led the inning off with a single and Brian Lee reached on an error on a SAC bunt, Trey Vanderpool reached on a hit-by-pitch to load the bases and an out later, Javier Lopez singled to drive in two, Sam Mang doubled an out later to score Vanderpool … a five-run sixth left no doubt about the outcome, but the Trojans added two more in the seventh

GAME ONE: Dalton Mauldin (2-3) is the only Trojan with multiple hits and drove in a run … Trey Vanderpool hit a triple, drew a walk, and scored … John Anderson delivered a pinch-hit two-RBI double in the sixth that kept the Trojan hopes alive … Jake Roberson (3-4) had a great start, striking out the side in the first around a walk, but exited after four

Each team had 10 hits and added three walks, two Panthers were hit-by-pitch and one Trojans – Bryan Goolsby who has absorbed a team-high 10 hit-by-pitch this season

GAME TWO: Javier Lopez (2-4) and Sam Mang (3-4) each produced multi-hit games … Danield Lankster drove in three runs with a hit … Lopez drove in two runs and Mang scored twice while driving in a run and hit a double, the Trojans only extra base hit … Trey Vanderpool did not get a hit, but drove in a run, scored a run, reached on a hit-by-pitch, and had a stolen base

Trevecca scored their 10 runs with 10 hits, drew four walks, and two hit-by-pitch … KWC committed four errors while the Trojan were tagged with just one  

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca visits former conference foe Union University (9-21, 3-14 GSC) on Tuesday (04/02) at 6:00 PM. Since 2001 Trevecca owns a 26-22-1 advantage in the series. Union defeated Trevecca last year in Nashville, but the Trojans are 8-2-1 vs. the Bulldogs in the last 11 meetings. The Trojans have won the last four meetings in Jackson.

Trevecca hosts Great Midwest leader Ohio Dominican University (16-11, 10-4 G-MAC) Friday and Saturday for a pair of double headers at Jackson Field. Trevecca leads the all-time series 5-0.
