NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball Trojans (5-7) lost 17-9 to Lincoln Memorial University (12-8) at Jackson Field on Tuesday afternoon.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES:

The all-time series is now tied at 3-3. Trevecca defeated LMU 11-10 a season ago. The 2017 meeting between the two was canceled and TNU won 5-4 in 2016.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Trojans jumped on the Rail Splitters 4-0 in the first inning … the first three Trojans reached base (Brandon Hauswald walked, Bryant Goolsby singled, Javier Lopez singled) … Sam Mang hit a two run double to score Hauswald and Goolsby moving Lopez over to third … Lopez and Mang later scored off a Chandler Miller double … LMU tacked on three in the second and then took the lead after scoring two in the third … TNU scored two more runs in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead … Mang walked and John O'Dwyer reached on a hit by pitch to begin the frame … Mang moved to third when Miller reached on a fielder's choice … Mang then scored off a wild pitch which moved Miller to second … a Braden Odom single plated Miller … LMU scored two in the fifth and seven in the sixth to take a 14-6 advantage … LMU added three more in eighth to lead 17-6 … Justin Chauvin (walk) and Carrington Wilson (single) reached base safely to begin the ninth … Javier Lopez hit a two-out triple to score Chauvin and Wilson … Dalton Mauldin doubled to score Lopez … LMU won 17-9.

Javier Lopez and Dalton Mauldin were both 2-5 … Lopez had two RBIs and two runs scored while Mauldin brought in a run … Sam Mang was 1-2 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk … Chandler Miller went 1-4 and had two RBIs … Carrington Wilson (1-1) came on a pinch hitter and scored a run.

Trevecca hosts Saginaw Valley State University for singles game on Thursday (6 PM), Friday 2 PM), and Saturday (1 PM). SVSU is 3-6 this season. TNU and SVSU have never played before.
