NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball Trojans (11-11, 5-3) split a pair of games Sunday to visiting Lake Erie College (10-8, 5-3 G-MAC), 3-4 and 16-12, at Jackson Field. The Trojans used eight extra-base hits including five home runs in game two for the split.

The games were initially scheduled to be played in Painesville, Ohio at Lake Erie, but weather moved the games to Nashville. Lake Erie hit last in all four games in the series per conference rules.

HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME ONE: Lake Erie scored two in the bottom of the first, but Trevecca scored three in the third for a 3-2 lead – Andrew Blount, Trey Vanderpool, and Javier Lopez each walked before a wild pitch scored Blount, Sam Mang delivered a double scoring Lopez and Vanderpool … the lead held until the seventh when Lake Erie scored two, the first to tie and the second a walk-off on a bases-loaded walk and a 4-3 win for Lake Erie.

GAME TWO: Lake Erie flexed with five runs in the first and second inning and added a single run in the third for an 11-0 lead … Trevecca responded with a six-run fourth – Sam Mang drove in Javier Lopez with a single and John O'Dwyer followed with a three-run homer scoring Mang and Bryant Goolsby who reached on a hit-by-pitch, Trey Vanderpool drove in a run with a double and Javier Lopez drove in a run on a fielder's choice … Lake Erie plated their last run in the fifth, leading 12-6 … the score remained the same until Trevecca added a second six-run inning in the seventh, tying the game at 12-12 – with no outs Goolsby and Mang hit back-to-back homers, Goolsby hit a two-run shot, Brian Lee drove in a run with a single, and Dalton Mauldin doubled in two runs … Trevecca pushed the game in their favor with a four-run eighth – Goolsby and Mang went back-to-back again on solo shots to put the Trojans on top for good, Brian Lee singled in a run and later scored on a wild pitch for the 16-12 finalÂÂ
