NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University Trojans (4-4) fell in the final game of the 2019 Trojan Classic, 6-0 to Ashland University (3-0) at Jackson Field on Monday evening.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES:

Trevecca and Ashland met for the first time since the 2017 season in which both teams won a game in a doubleheader. The Eagles are now 2-1 all-time against the Trojans.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Ashland built up a 3-0 lead in the game's first two innings and maintained the advantage the whole way … the Eagles tacked on another run in the sixth before scoring a single run in both the eighth and ninth innings … Ashland pitchers combined to strike out 16 Trojan hitters while only allowing three hits in the Eagles' 6-0 win.

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Jesse Peters started and threw just one inning before leaving the game in the second … Chase Douglas came on in emergency relief to throw five innings while allowing just one earned run … four other Trojans combined to pitch the final three innings … Peters is now 0-2 on the season … Bryant Goolsby went 2-3 with a walk … Javier Lopez was 1-3 …

Ashland outhit the Trojans 6-3 … the Trojans committed three errors to the Eagles' one … as a team Ashland drew nine walks and struck out seven times compared to the Trojans' two walks and 16 strikeouts.

Trevecca remains at Jackson Field to host both the University of Southern Indiana (6-1) and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside (0-6) over the weekend. The weekend series kicks off with a 6 PM meeting against USI on Friday and then a doubleheader against USI at 2 PM and then UWP at 6:30 PM on Saturday.
