HENDERSONVILLE, TN – The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team (4-3, 0-0 G-MAC) ended the 2019 Music City Invitational going 2-1 with an 8-5 win Saturday over Missouri University of Science & Technology (3-5) at Drakes Creek Park.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES

This is the first-ever meeting in the NCAA D2 Era for Trevecca and the Miners in softball.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trevecca, playing as the visiting team, scored four runs in the top of the first when MaKray Odom singled with a bunt to lead off the game, stole second, the moved to third on a Lenna Robinson bunt, and scored on a SAC bunt from Tana Whited … Lenna Robinson scored on a SAC fly from Mary Collins, Bailey Alexander, who reached on a walk, and Megan Groves, who reached on a single, both scored on a Caitlyn Hudgins single … the Trojans pulled ahead 5-0 with a run in the top of the second when MaKray Odom reached on a single then stole second and third before Tana Whited drove her in despite hitting into a double play … MO S&T scored a run on three hits and left the bases loaded in the second … the Miners made it 5-3 with two runs in the third with the help of two hits and a Trojan error … Mary Collins led off the fifth with a solo home run and then Kelsey Seitz delivered a two-run home run, scoring Cali Norrod who reached on a single, to make it 8-3 Trojans … the Miners scored two more in the fifth on two hits, cutting the Trojan lead to three at 8-5 … Trevecca concluded the scoring a run with an RBI-single off the bat of Kelsey Seitz, scoring Bailey Alexander.

WHAT'S NEXT

Trevecca plays #1 University of Southern Indiana (2-4) at the Midwest Region Crossover Friday (1 PM) at Deaconess Complex in Evansville, IN. At 3:00 PM the Trojans face the Bearcats of McKendree University (3-5). Saturday (Noon & 2 PM) the Trojans face Quincy University (0-2) and Rockhurst University (2-1). The Screaming Eagles of Southern Indiana is 6-0 versus Trevecca in the NCAA D2 Era. TNU has a 2-1 edge in the series with the Bearcats, are 0-1 versus the Hawks of Quincy, and are 1-1 against the Rockhurst Hawks.

The Trojans first games #ONtheHILL are February 27th when they host Lincoln Memorial University (7-1) for a pair of games at 2 PM. The Railsplitters own a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series. LMU is on a four-game win streak in the series.
