MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (3-0, 0-0 G-MAC) completed the three-game sweep of the University of Montevallo (2-5) at Kermit A. Johnson Field on Saturday.

SERIES HISTORY/NOTES: In the NCAA Division II era the Falcons own a 7-4 edge in the series, but the Trojans have won the last four in the series.

GAME CHRONICLE 

Game 1: Trevecca scored three runs in the first with three hits, Javier Lopez singled up the middle driving in Trey Vanderpool, Brent Goolsby doubled down the right field line to score Lopez, and Chandler Miller reached with the help of an error, to score Goolsby … Trevecca made it 4-0 with a run on two hits in the third when Chandler Miller singled to left to drive in Goolsby … but the Falcons cut the Trojan lead to 4-2 with a two-run bottom of the third … two more Trojan hits, one a triple off the bat of Chandler Miller, in the fifth added a run for the Trojans … Montevallo plated two in the eighth to make it an 5-4 Trevecca lead, but Chandler Miller put the Trojans up 7-4 with a two-run single in the ninth … the Falcons rallied again with a two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth, but the Trojans closed it out for the win

Game 2: Trevecca exploded for five runs to begin the first … Trey Vanderpool singled and then stole second only to be driven in when Javier Lopez singled to center … Dalton Mauldin then drove in both Lopez and Chandler Miller who reached base via a walk … Brandon Hauswald then walked with the bases loaded to make it 4-0 Trevecca … Vanderpool singled in the final run as the Trojans batted around the lineup … neither team would score until the Trojans tacked on three more in the sixth … this time Bryant Goolsby doubled to center with Justin Chauvin on base … Dalton Mauldin then hit another double to bring in both Goolsby and Miller … TNU led 8-0 at that point and hung on for the win.

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Game 1: Jake Roberson (1-0) picked up the win with six innings of work and Tyler Koprowki got his second save … Chandler Miller went 4-5 with a double, a triple and three RBI

Game 2: Trey Vanderpool went 3-3 with an RBI and a walk … Dalton Mauldin drove in four runs, going 2-5 … Bryant Goolsby went 4-5 with an RBI and two runs scored … Javier Lopez went 2-5 … Davis Jackson started and tossed seven innings with seven strikeouts … Jackson allowed only one hit when Carson McClure came on in relief … McClure and Hunter Davis combined to allow one hit and also sustained the shutout.

WHATS NEXT

Trevecca's home opener is Friday (Feb. 15) at 3 PM when they host Lewis University (0-0) at Jackson Field. The teams play two on Saturday (16th) beginning at noon.
