Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (15-15, 6-4 Great Midwest) came from behind to win over Tiffin University (15-12, 8-2 Great Midwest) (22-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-21, 15-9) in the Gilmore Center on Friday night.

The Trojans earned their sixth conference victory tonight, more than each of the last two seasons. During the 2016-17 campaign, the Trojans finished 8-2 in league play.

THE SERIES
The fifth match of the all-time series went to the Trojans to stop the Dragons three game winning streak. Trevecca won the first game between the two schools on a neutral floor.

THE MATCH
Tiffin jumped out to an early 5-1 first set lead which they held for most of the set. The Trojans pulled to within two at 12-10, keeping the set close the rest of the way. The set was tied at 20-20 and 22-22, but a late run awarded the Dragons the opening set, 25-22. The second set victory by Tiffin was the largest margin of the night, 25-17. The Trojans held the early advantage of 11-7 before a 6-0 run favored the Dragons to 13-11 advantage. From there a 12-6 run yielded the Dragons their second and final set. Neither team separated in the third set until the final points. Ellie Buffler (FR/Nashville, TN) had two kills to pair with a kill by Madison Martin (SO/Martinsville, IN) to give the Trojans a 25-21 win. The Trojans extended the Dragons in the fourth behind a 9-0 run. After an Ellie Buffler attack error gave the Dragons a 13-11 lead, the Trojans strung together a 9-0 point swing to lead 20-13. The Trojans took the fourth set 25-21, forcing a decisive fifth and final set. The Trojans again found themselves down, this time 6-3. A 4-0 run sparked the Trojan comeback, 7-6. From there a pair of 3-0 runs buried the Dragons in a 13-8 deficit. The Trojans closed out the match with an Austyn Baldwin (SO/Kingston Springs, TN) kill to win 15-9.

TOP PLAYER
Ellie Buffler led the Trojans with 23 kills and 17 kills for a double-double. The freshman also collected two service aces, two assists and five block assists.

The Trojans hit .172 (66 K, 30 E, 209 TA) for the game including .458 (11 K, 0 E, 24 TA) in the decisive fifth and final set.

Trevecca challenges Cedarville University (14-9, 6-3 Great Midwest) in a big match which can determine seeding for the postseason tournament.
