Trevecca Women's Soccer | Trojans Bested by Lake Erie Storm, 1-0

NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University women's soccer team (3-6-2, 3-3 Great Midwest) lost 1-0 to Lake Erie College (5-3-2, 2-3-1 Great Midwest) on Thursday at the Trojan Soccer Complex.

THE SERIES

The Storm got the better of the Trojans for the first time in three matches. Trevecca won the first two matches, 2-1 and 1-0 in each of the last two years. This was the only fixture between Lake Erie and Trevecca this season.

 

THE MATCH

The opening 45 minutes were played to a 0-0 draw. The Trojans managed eight first-half shots, with two corners but could not find the back of the net. In the second half, Mariah Fedewa's goal at 56:03 was the difference. The Storm closed out the final 30 plus minutes to earn three points on the road. Fedewa's goal was assisted by Haley Scherer. Despite eight more second-half shots, the Trojans were held scoreless for the second consecutive G-MAC match.

  

WHAT THE RESULT MEANS

Trevecca remains in a tie for fifth place in the G-MAC table with Cedarville through six conference matches.

 

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Trojans continue their four-game homestand with a Saturday meeting against Ursuline College (3-4-1, 2-3-1 Great Midwest) at 2:00 PM.

 

The following weekend presents the final two home regular-season matches for the Trojans On the Hill. Malone University (6-1, 3-1 Great Midwest) visits on Thursday, October the 17th at 4:30 PM and Saturday (10.19) it is Walsh University (8-2, 5-0 Great Midwest) taking on the Trojans at 2:00 PM on Senior Day.

 

The Arrows of Ursuline and Trevecca have split their 14 meetings equally with the Trojans winning three of the last five. The Arrows have knocked of the Trojans the last two times they have visited Nashville. The Trojans have not lost to Malone with a 3-0-1 record against the Pioneers. The Walsh Cavaliers lead the series with Trevecca 3-1.
