NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (3-2, 1-0 G-MAC) began its Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) season by rallying to defeat Ursuline College (3-3, 0-1 G-MAC), 3-2 (18-25, 14-25, 26-24, 25-21, 15-12) on Monday at Trojan Fieldhouse.

HISTORY

The last time the Trojans came back from a 2-0 deficit was on October 6, 2015 when they rallied past King University (20-25, 14-25, 25-21, 25-14, 22-20).

The Trojans took the first point of the match, but fell into a 6-3 hole … UC's biggest run in the first set came when the Arrows went on a 3-0 run to extend their lead to 17-10 … TNU cut it to within 5 points at 19-14, but were unable to narrow the margin … UC took set one, 25-18 ... the Arrows took the first point of set two and opened up a 7-3 lead … TNU tied it at 7-7 … UC later opened a six point lead at 16-10 … with the score 16-12 the Arrows went on a 6-0 run to secure their lead, 22-12 … UC took set two, 25-14 … set three remained close the entire way … either teams largest lead was only three … with the score tied at 24-24, an attacking error by UC and a kill from Lydia Yonce gave the Trojans the set, 26-24 … UC took the first point of set four … down 7-3, TNU went on a 9-1 run to take a 12-8 lead  … the teams traded points before TNU went up by five at 19-14 … TNU closed out set four, 25-21 … TNU opened set five on a 5-2 run … UC managed to tie the final set at 7-7 … UC then went on a 5-2 run to lead 11-8 … after leading 12-9, UC did not score again … TNU finished the match on a 6-0 run.

Trevecca is 7-5 in the NCAA era versus Ursuline College.

TOP TROJANS

Madison Clements had a .462% (8 K, 2 E, 13 TA) hitting percentage … six different Trojans had at least one kill … Mary Holmberg (10) and Austyn Baldwin (13) both had double-digit kills … Lydia Yonce led the team in digs (21) while Hannah Bornemann had a team-high 26 assists … Leilani Victor hit three service aces.

TROJAN TEAM TRENDS

Trevecca closed the match with a .610% (7 K, 2 E, 22 TA) hitting percentage in set five ... for the match TNU had (49 K, 20 E, 157 TA) while Ursuline hit .135% (55 K, 32 E, 170 TA) … the Trojans recorded 10 receiving errors against 74 digs and 7 service aces.

Trevecca hosts new conference foe Lake Erie College (5-2, 0-0 G-MAC) at 6 pm in Trojan Fieldhouse.

TNU is 0-1 all-time vs the Storm, dropping last season's match in three sets.
