OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (5-6, 3-4 G-MAC) loss to Kentucky Wesleyan College (9-6, 4-3 G-MAC), 3-2 (16-25, 22-25, 28-26 26-24,16-18) on Tuesday in Jones Gym.

SERIES HISTORY

The Panthers leads the series 9-7. KWC has claimed the last three in the series, which ended a five-match win streak in the series for the Trojans.

KWC jumped out to a 5-0 lead to begin the match … after trading a few points, KWC opened up a 15-10 lead … KWC closed the first set out on a 4-0 run to win 25-16 … TNU led early in set two, 4-2 … the teams traded points and were tied at 7-7 … KWC then extended a 4-0 lead to go up 11-7 … KWC led by as many as six at 16-10, but TNU went on a 8-2 run to tie it at 18-18 … KWC closed out set two, 25-22 … KWC opened the third set on a 7-1 run …TNU cut into the lead at 10-6 …then cut it to three at 13-10 …  the Trojans tied it at 16-16 … the Trojans first lead of the set was at 18-17 … both teams traded points until KWC tied it at 25-25 … an Austyn Baldwin (FR/Kingston Springs, TN) kill and an attacking error by the Panthers gave the Trojans the third set, 28-26 … the fourth set remained tight the entire way … TNU went on a 4-0 run to go up 19-15 … the Trojans looked to be in control at 21-16 … the Panthers cut it to 23-21 before tying it at 24-24 … a Lydia Yonce (FR/Nashville, TN) kill and a KWC attacking error gave the Trojans the fourth set, 26-24 … tied at 3-3 in the fifth set, the Trojans took control going up 7-3 … KWC fought back to cut it to 10-7 … the set was then tied at 11-11 … neither team could separate after that … there were ties at 13, 14, 15 and 16 … KWC went on to win 18-16 on back-to-back kills.

Austyn Baldwin led the Trojan attack with 17 kills and a .217 attack percentage … Baldwin added seven digs … Madison Clements (SO/Goshen, KY) (.219) and Madison Martin (FR/Martinsville, IN) (.123) added 12 kills each … Hannah Bornemann (FR/Oswego, IL) (22) and Leilani Victor (FR/Hudson, WI)y (22) lead in assists … Claire Hindman (FR/Westfield, IN) (37) had the top dig total.

TROJAN TEAM TRENDS

The Trojans hit .189 (15 K, 5 E, 53 TA) in their third set victory.

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Trojans head to northern Ohio for a pair of weekend meetings with conference foes, Malone and Walsh.

On Friday, the Trojans battle Walsh University (7-7, 4-2 G-MAC) at 6 PM. The Cavaliers and Trojans are tied at 1-1 in the all-time series as Walsh joined the G-MAC last season.

On Saturday, the Trojans challenge Malone University (7-6, 3-2 G-MAC) at 11 AM. The Trojans hold a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series though the Pioneers secured their first win in the series last season.
