Trevecca Volleyball | Trojans Drop 3-1 Battle with Great Midwest Leader Tiffin

 NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (5-5, 3-3 G-MAC) fell to Tiffin University (10-3, 5-0 G-MAC), 3-1 (16-25, 16-25, 25-22, 16-25) on Saturday in the Trojan Fieldhouse. The win extends Tiffin's win streak to eight consecutive matches.

SERIES HISTORY

The Dragons own a two-match win streak in the series, the Trojans won the first and only other meeting in the series. Tiffin is in its first year of membership in the Great Midwest.  

 

GAME CHRONICLE  

Trevecca 1, Tiffin 3

Trevecca led early in the first set, but Tiffin found separation with a 4-1 run to take a 11-7 lead … a 4-0 Tiffin run put the Dragons up 20-12 … the second set had little doubt from the outset, the Dragons started up 6-1 and led 12-3 … the second set ended as the first with Tiffin on top 25-16 … Trevecca looked like a different team in the third set opening the frame with a 4-1 lead … the match remained close until a 9-0 TNU run turned a 16-15 TU lead into a 24-16 Trojan lead … the Trojans closed the set out 25-22 and pushed the match to a fourth set … the fourth set was a one-point affair for most the early portion of the set until Tiffin used a 4-0 run to push their one point lead to five at 15-10 … from there the Dragons eased their margin to secure the match with a 25-16 fourth set win

 

TOP TROJANS

Madison Martin led the Trojan attack with 12 kills and a .263 attack percentage … Martin added 11 digs and a service ace … Mary Holmberg (.438) and Austyn Baldwin (.179) contributed nine kills each … Hannah Bornemann (18) and Leilani Victor (15) lead in assists … Claire Hindman (13) had the top dig total

 The Trojans hit .263 (14 K, 4 E, 38 TA) in the third for the win

 

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Trojans hit the road for the next three starting with a short trip to Owensboro, KY to face Great Midwest rival Kentucky Wesleyan (8-6, 3-3 Great Midwest). The Panthers lead the series 8-7. KWC has claimed the last two in the series, which ended a five-match win streak in the series for the Trojans.
