NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team split two non-conference games on Friday versus Lewis University at Jackson Field.

Trevecca leads the series 2-1 after todays games. Both teams played a game in 2014 winning 5-2

 

GAME CHRONICLE 

GM 1 –  Lewis scored the first five runs in the game; scoring two in the second and three in the third … TNU ansered back in the fourth and fifth innings … in the fourth Sam Mang (JR/Woodstock, GA) doubled scoring Ethan Harrison (JR/Erlanger, KY) to cut the lead to 5-1 … In the fifth Trevecca scored three runs highlighted by a two run home run by Harrison to pull within one 5-4 … the Flyers got all three runs back on a three run home run in the top of the sixth to pull the lead to 8-4 … Trevecca managed to get all three of those runs back highlighted by a Justin Chauvin (FR/Acworth, GA) single bringing in Ethan Hurt (SR/Pegram, TN) to now trail 8-7 … the Flyers got one in the seventh and one in the eighth to win the game 10-7

  

GM 2 – Lewis struck first on an error in the first inning to go up 1-0 … the Trojans scored a run in the fourth on a Chandler Miller (SO/Marietta, GA) walk scoring Michael Brown (JR/Pleasant View, TN) to tie the game 1-1… the Trojans scored three runs in the sixth highlighted by a Justin Chauvin single through the right side scoring two Trojans to give them the 4-1 Trojan victory.

 

PLAYER STATS REPORT

GM 1 –  Dreew Pierce started and took the loss (0-1) … Javier Lopez (JR/Lawrenceville, GA ) and Ethan Harrison each had two RBI.

 

GM 2 –  Tyler Koprowski (FR/Canton, GA) came on in relief to pick up the win (1-0) with 2.0 innings of work … Koprowski allowed two hits, a walk, and had one strikeout Ryan Shultz (SR/Murfreesboro, TN) had five strikeouts as the starter and allowed just two hits in five innings of work; the senior walked three … Justin Chauvin was the only Trojan to have multiple rBI's in the game.

 

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN 

GM 1 – The Flyers were paced by four home runs and sat down 11 Trojan batters on strikes … Lewis had 11 hits … Trojan pitchers did strike out eight Flyers,  Drew Pierce (FR/Kingsport, TN) had five strikeouts, but the Trojans pitchers gave Lewis batters a walk nine times

 

GM 2 –   The Trojans hit safely eight times … Lewis mustered just four hits in 26-game two at-bats while Trojan hurlers struck out six LU batters.
