TIFFIN, OH- The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-20, 5-13 G-MAC) lost to Great Midwest Athletic Conference opponent Tiffin University (20-10, 14-4 G-MAC), 3-1 (16-25, 8-25, 25-23, 12-25) on Friday night.

Trevecca 1, Tiffin 3

Trevecca won the matches first point but then surrounded nine straight to fall behind 9-1 … TNU rallied to within four at 10-14 and the by three points at 14-17 … Tiffin claimed the first set 25-16 … Tiffin got the first five points of the second set and led as many as 10-1 early … after that Tiffin used a pair of 3-0 runs to lead 14-4 and 19-6 … the Dragons closed out the second set on a 6-1 run to win 25-8 … TNU claimed the first point of the third set … after three straight points from Tiffin, TNU tied the set at 4-4 … from there the Trojans went on a 6-0 run to lead 10-4 … Tiffin managed to get back within three at 12-9 before a 3-0 TNU run extended the lead to 15-9 … the teams traded points until a Lydia Yonce (FR/Nashville, TN) kill put the Trojans up 19-14 and forced a Tiffin timeout … out of the timeout Tiffin went on a 4-1 lead to get ahead 20-18 … Tiffin stayed within two at 22-20 and forced a Trevecca timeout at 22-21 … TNU won the third set, 25-23 … Tiffin jumped out to a 4-0 run to begin set four … Trevecca rallied to within two at 6-4 before Tiffin used a 6-2 run to go up 12-6 … TNU then took the next three points 12-9 and led 13-10 … Tiffin used a 12-2 run to finish off the Trojans, 25-12.

TOP TROJANS

Lydia Yonce led the team with nine (9) kills and added 14 digs … Claire Hindman (FR/Westfield, IN) edged Yonce by one with a team-high 15 digs … Leilani Victor (FR/Hudson, WI) and Hannah Bornemann (FR/Oswego, IL) had 20 and 12 assists respectively … Jordan Sprinkle (SR/Bristow, IN) had a team-high four blocks. 

TROJAN TEAM TRENDS

The Trojans best set came in the third with 14 kills in 31 attempts and four errors for a .323 attack percentage.

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Trojans conclude their season when they take on Cedarville Saturday at 12 PM. Cedarville owns the all-time series with Trevecca 12-4 with a four-match win streak currently over the Trojans. Trevecca last defeated Cedarville in 2016.
