NASHVILLE - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-16, 5-9 G-MAC) lost to Great Midwest Athletic Conference foe Kentucky Wesleyan College (13-12, 7-7 G-MAC), 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 22-25, 22-25) on Tuesday night in the Trojan Fieldhouse.

Trevecca 1, Kentucky Wesleyan 3

The first set was incredibly tight with neither team able to get a lead by more than two points … Trevecca last led 16-15 … KWC pulled ahead 17-16 and never trailed, but Trevecca tied it three more times including at 23-23 ... in the second set the Trojans started strong and took the matches first three-point lead (7-4) before building a four-point lead (12-8) in the middle section of the set … the Panthers closed to within one (15-14) … Trevecca turned the match in their favor with the largest run of the match and built the largest lead seven (22-15) with a 7-1 run … Trevecca evened the match at 1-1 with a 25-19 victory … KWC responded to the second set loss with a 5-2 start to the third … TNU evened the match at 6-6 with a 4-1 run … the match remained tight most of the rest of the way with TNU leading 16-14, KWC rolled off a 6-1 run for a 20-16 lead … KWC held off the Trojan rally for a 2-1 set lead … the Trojans started out the must-win fourth-set with a 3-0 run, but KWC turned the set in their favor with a 10-1 run … Trevecca closed the gap to three on more than one occasion including when KWC lead 13-10 … the Panthers grew the lead again to six on more than one occasion including 24-18 … the Trojans closed to within two at 24-22, but KWC closed out the match with a fourth set win.

Three Trojans hit for double figures in kills including Jordan Sprinkle (SR/Bristow, IN) and Martin Madison who each hit for 14 and Austyn Baldwin (FR/Kingston Springs, TN) added 10 kills … Sprinkle hit for .480% (14 K 2 E 25 TA) with three blocks … Hannah Bornemann (FR/Oswego, IL) added 47 assists and Claire Hindman (FR/Westfield, IN) led the team with 22 digs … Baldwin had 10 digs and three blocks …  

TROJAN TEAM TRENDS

Trevecca hit .256% in the first set (15 K 5 E 39 TA) while Kentucky Wesleyan hit .222% (15 K 5 E 45 TA) … in the winning of set two the Trojans hit .355% (15, 4, 31) while KWC hit .269% (11, 4, 26) … neither team hit well in the third set, combining for 14 total attack errors …

WHAT'S NEXT 

The Trojans travel to Ohio Dominican (4-19, 0-12 G-MAC) for a single weekend game on Friday at 6:00 PM.
