NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University men's basketball team (4-15, 3-8 G-MAC) defeated Davis & Elkins College (4-12, 2-9 G-MAC) 81-76 on Saturday night in Trojan Fieldhouse.

SERIES/HISTORY: The Senators and Trojans are tied in the series 5-5. The teams meet again in Elkins, WV on February 15th.

GAME CHRONICLE

The game was tight the whole first half as the largest lead was six by the Trojans with 11:17 left in the first half. In the second half, Trevecca pushed the lead to 11 with a Jacob Williams (SR/Lebanon, TN) three to make the score 73-62 with 1:58 left in the game. The Senators ended on a 14-9 run, but it was not enough to get the victory in Trojan Fieldhouse as TNU won 81-76.

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN

Trevecca shot 45.6% (26-57) from the field, 37.5% (9-24) from three-point range, and 75% (15-20) from the line. D&E outscored TNU 44-26 in the paint and 10-4 on points off turnovers. TNU outrebounded D&E 40-31.  

PLAYER STATS REPORT

Jacob Williams led Trevecca with 25 points hitting 9-of-22 from the field and 5-13 from beyond the arc. Deion Johnson (JR/Jacksonville, FL) added 23 points, and Devin Whitfield (SO/Lipscomb, AL) had 13 points. Whitfield, Johnson, and Williams all paced Trevecca with nine rebounds. Whitfield led TNU with six assists.

Trevecca will begin its two-game road trip on Thursday when they go to (15) University of Findlay (18-2, 12-0 G-MAC) at 5 PM. The Oilers lead the series 3-0, last defeating the Trojans on Dec. 2, 61-56 in Trojan Fieldhouse.
