MASON, Ohio - The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team won their first two Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) tournament games on Wednesday. First a 2-0 win over Cedarville University and then continued in the winners bracket with a 8-3 win over Alderson Broaddus University.

The Trojans are now 26-4 versus the Yellow Jackets all time including going 5-0 this season against them … Trevecca is 11-5 against Alderson Broaddus as this was the two team's first meeting this year as their  four-game series was rained out on April 21-22 … ABU ended the Trojans three-year run as conference tournament champions, today was the first meeting since that championship game one year ago

Griffin Ganick tripled to left center in the bottom of the sixth scoring Carter Wiseman for a 1-0 lead … Ganick later scored on a wild pitch to give the Trojans the 2-0 win

Griffin Ganick singled through the left side in the first scoring Carter Wiseman for a 1-0 lead … Bryson Shelton grounded to second scoring Ganick for a 2-0 lead … ABU scored one in the bottom half for a 2-1 TNU lead after one inning … ABU scored two in the fifth for a 3-2 lead … In the sixth Michael Brown reached on an error by the shortstop scoring Harrison to tie the game 3-3 … Ethan Hurt singled to left center scoring Wiseman for a 4-3 Trojan lead … Tyler burns singled through the left side bringing Hurt and Brown across the plate for a 6-3 lead … Patrick Reed singled through the left side bringing Chandler Miller home for a 7-3 lead … in the eighth Trevecca got one more run as Miller plated Hurt for the final run of the game in the 8-3 Trojan win

Griffin Ganick went 3-4 with a RBI and a run scored … Bryan Smith pitched his first complete game shutout of the season holding CU batters to seven hits … Bryan Smith, who tied for the Great Midwest Athletic Conference regular season lead with six wins, added his seventh win of the season and is now 7-1 on the year after allowing seven hits and no walks while facing just six over the minimum … Smith added to his Great Midwest legacy with his stellar performance today adding to his G-MAC career-wins record with his 31st career win … Smith is also the G-MAC all-time leader in innings pitched (309.0) and games started (47) and is now second in winning percentage (.775, 31-9), shutouts (5), and strikeouts (268)

Ethan Hurt went 2-4 with two runs scored and a RBI … Jesse Peters (7-1) picked up the win going five and two thirds innings giving up one earned run and striking out seven ABU batters … Christian Lohr got his fourth save pitching three and a third innings giving up one hit

WHATS NEXT

The tournament is taking Thursday off due to predicted poor weather and will resume play on Friday. Trevecca returns to action versus third-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan College (25-22) at 11 AM at Prasco Park. Trevecca is 9-5 versus the Panthers all-time. Their last meeting came one year ago at Prasco Park when the Trojans ended KWC's season. The teams split last year's regular season meetings and did not meet this year as their entire series was erased due to rain.
