Softball | Trevecca Completes Sweep of G-MAC Foe D&E

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University softball team defeated Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) foe Davis & Elkins College in Saturday's double header to take the four-game series with the Scots. The games, played in Nashville at Trevecca, were moved for weather and field conditions in Elkins, WV. Davis & Elkins remained designated as the home team and owning the at last bat.

GAME CHRONICLE 

GM 1 – Trevecca scored a run in the top of the first and that lead held until the Senators pushed their first run of the series across the plate on a bang-bang play at home with one out in the seventh inning … the run extended the game to extra frames … in the top of the eighth inning Trevecca plated three runs for a 4-1 lead

GM 2 –  Trevecca scored three in the first and added two runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings … Ashton Stowe led off the game with a single and moved to second on a SAC by MaKray Odom, an out later Bailey Alexander's single moved Stowe to third, the bases were loaded when Caitlyn Hudgins reached on a hit-by-pitch, Alex Richardson followed with a double that scored Stowe and Alexander, a wild pitch followed allowing Hudgins to score giving the Trojans more than enough margin for the win

 

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN 

GM 1 – D&E scored their first run of the series until the seventh inning of game three … TNU had 12 hits with nine different Trojans gaining a hit … both teams had an error …

GM 2 –  Trevecca added 16 more hits with no errors while shutting out the Senators for the third time in the four-game series

 

PLAYER STATS REPORT

GM 1 – Savannah Carr (4-3) followed her complete came shutout with 6.1 innings of shutout pitching in game one on Saturday, despite giving up a run in the seventh, Carr pitched out of it and completed the game (8 innings), allowing just one run on nine hits with two walks and three strikeouts, she induced 13 ground ball outs … Caitlyn Hudgins and Alex Richardson had two hits and drove in a run … Ashton Stowe also had two this … Hudgins had a pair of doubles

GM 2 –  Ashton Stowe went 4-5 at the plate with three runs scored, two RBI, and two stolen bases … MaKray Odom was 2-4 at the plate with four RBI … Alex Richardson was 1-4 with two RBI and a double … Dallas Richards was 2-4 with two runs score and Madux Reid was 12 with a run scored … Raygn Hall started and got the win (4-7) with five innings of shutout work in the circle … Hall allowed three hits and had three strike outs … Morgan Powell pitched the final two innings of perfect ball with on strikeout

 

WHATS NEXT

Trevecca will be on the road Wednesday in a double header at Lee University (22-10, 9-6 GSC) starting at 2 PM … Trevecca is 4-4 against Lee University winning their last game … the Trojans continue the road trip heading to Canton, OH to face new conference foe Malone University (7-9-1, 0-4 G-MAC) next Friday (1:30 PM) and Saturday (11 AM) … the Trojans are 3-0 against the Pioneers all-time … Trevecca returns home for what will be the biggest series to date when Kentucky Wesleyan College (18-9, 3-0 G-MAC) visits on April 5th at 4 PM … Trevecca leads the series with KWC 13-8, but have won 11 of the last 14 meetings and the series and seven of the last eight, including three in a row
