Southern Indiana leads the series with Trevecca 5-0 in softball

GAME CHRONICLE 

GM 1 – #14 Southern Indiana took a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but the Trojans avoided the big inning after the bases were loaded with no outs, after a two-run single the Trojans gunned down the the lead runner, Marleah Fossett, at third, then doubled up the next batter, Haley Hodges when Mena Fulton lined out …  Danielle Tyson singled with two out in the Trojans half of the first and scored a Bailey Alexander homer, Caitlyn Hudgins followed with a double and scored on a Alex Richardson single for a 3-2 Trojan lead after one … the score held until USI tied the game in the third and then picked up the game winner on a line drive home run from Marleah Fossett, her homer hit off the top of the right-center field fence and skipped out 

GM 2 – Southern Indiana opened game two with a two-run top of the first and after the Trojans scored a run in the bottom of the first, the Screaming Eagles put the game out of reach with a three-run second … in the bottom of the second Trevecca's MaKray Odom reached with one out on an error, then scored an out later when Bailey Alexander singled to right field and drove in Odom … the Trojans added their other run in the second after Alex Richardson reached on a walk then moved over to second on a passed ball and third on a Kat Burbrink single and from there she scored on a wild pitch .. USI added three in the sixth and two in the seventh for the 10-2 final

TEAM STATS BREAKDOWN 

GM 1 - USI collected 12 hits while the Trojans had six … Screaming Eagle starter Jennifer Leonhardt struck out eight Trojans and did not issue a free pass, but did hit Mary Collins … Raygn Hall and Savannah Carr pitched and combined to strike out two and walk five … 

GM 2 – Trevecca had nine hits … USI pitcher (Atkinsson) only walked one Trojan and sat just two Trojans on strikes … Trevecca pitchers allowed 11 hits and walked four and hit one batter … both teams committed an error

PLAYER STATS REPORT

GM 1 – Bailey Alexander was 2-3 with a run scored, a double, a two-run home run, and two RBI … Caitlyn Hudgins owned the only other extra base hit and scored a run 

GM 2 – Danielle Tylson and Bailey Alexander each had two hits and Alexander had the Trojans only extra base hit, a double that drove in a run

WHATS NEXT

Trevecca will host Davis & Elkins College (7-5) on Friday and Saturday in back to back double headers starting at 3 PM on Friday and Noon on Saturday. This will be the first conference games for both teams. The game was originally scheduled to be in Elkins, WV, but was moved to Nashville for weather/field condition purposes.
