NASHVILLE – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (5-23, 2-15 G-MAC) lost 3-2 (25-23, 25-18, 16-25, 14-25, 10-15) to visiting Cedarville University (17-15, 12-5 G-MAC) on Saturday in Great Midwest play at the Trojan Fieldhouse. It is the season finale for the Trojans and their three seniors – Claire Reinthaler, Miranda Bingham, and Danielle Moll.

MATCH CHRONICLE  

Trevecca 2, Cedarville 3

Trevecca set the tone for an upset by taking the first two sets, but the veteran Yellow Jackets rallied for three straight to get their 12th conference win of the year ... Trevecca led 12-5 in the first ... Cedarville tied it at 15-15, but the Trojans pulled ahead again ... the Jackets rallied for a 21-20 advantage ... with the match tied 23-23, Trevecca scored the final two points on back-to-back Morgan Swanger kills ... after a tight start to the second, Trevecca pulled ahead 12-7 and held the margin for the remainder of the set, winning 25-18 ... Cedarville turned the tables in the third with a 11-2 start, but the young Trojans rallied to within a point (16-15), but Cedarville closed the set on a 9-1 run ... the third set was tied 4-4, but outscored TNU 163 for a 20-7 advantage and held off the Trojans for a 26-14 win and evened the match at 2-2 ... Trevecca led the fifth set 2-0 led most of the way until it was 10-9 Trevecca ... the Yellow Jackets surged with the final six points, winning the set and match

The Trojans hit for .333% (15 Kills, 3 Errors, 36 Attacks) in the first set and .258% (11 K, 3 E, 31 A) in the second ... Trevecca hit for .130% (42 K, 23 E, 146 A) for the game while Cedarville hit for .227% (59 K, 25 E, 150 A)

TOP TROJANS

Morgan Swanger led the way with a 12.0 point match including eight kills, two service aces, seven digs, and four blocks ... Madison Clements had another outstanding match with a team-high nine kills and a .316 (9 K, 3 E, 19 A) hitting percentage with four digs and three blocks ... Claire Reinthaler equaled Clements with nine kills and a .333 attack percentage ... Gracie Pierce had a team-high 17 digs ... Danielle Moll had two kills and 10 digs ... Miranda Bingham had 15 assists, nine digs, and two service aces ... Macee Bingham led the team with 18 assists and added seven digs and two blocks ... Jordan Sprinkle had five blocks and six kills    

WHAT'S NEXT

The Trojans head to the offseason to prepare for the fall of 2018 ... the team announced five signees for next season (PRESS RELEASE)

Madison Clements led the team with 188 kills, a 1.94 kills per game average, and 67 total blocks, and 239.5 points. Her attack percentage for the season was .273 (188 K, 61 E, 466 A).

Claire Reinthaler added 152 kills and produced a 1.57 kills per game average, both second on the team. She was fifth on the team in digs with 161.

Jordan Sprinkle contributed the third most kills, 124, and had the second-best kill percentage at .198 (124 K, 60 E, 323 A) and added the second most blocks, 63.

Morgan Swanger, despite only playing in 80 sets, fourth on the team in kills, 119, and fifth in digs, 96.

Mary Holmberg added 117 kills, fifth on the team, and is third on the team in blocks with 45

Gracie Pierce led the team with 338 digs and finished second in service aces (19) and third in assists (45). The Bingham sisters led the team in assists. Macee is tops with 369 and Miranda is next at 329. The sisters were second and third in digs with 262 and 206 respectively.

Danielle Moll led the team in service aces (30) and is fourth in digs with 172.

Jayme Crowley concludes her tenth season with the Trojan volleyball program and now stands at 180-152 overall and is now 69-56 in conference (34-36 Great Midwest) play at Trevecca. Her teams are 14-13 in postseason play at Trevecca.

Crowley has coached 32 years overall, 15 at the collegiate level.
