Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (7-6, 1-0 G-MAC) picked up a key Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) road win at Ursuline College Arrows (8-6, 0-1 G-MAC) in what is the first G-MAC match completed this season. Trojans won 3-1 (25-20, 27-29, 25-15, 26-24) at Seidman Gymnasium in the Stano Athletic Center.

Also on the G-MAC volleyball opening night, conference newcomer Malone University hosted Kentucky Wesleyan College, KWC won in five. Trevecca visits Malone University (4-9, 0-1 G-MAC) on Saturday at 1 PM in what will be the first volleyball meeting between the Trojans and Pioneers. Malone is located in Canton, OH.

Trevecca is 6-3 against the Arrows following the win, taking the last three in a row in the series breaking what was a 3-3 tie in the series.   ÂÂ

Trevecca eased out to a 4-0 lead in the first set before the hosts evened the match at 5-5. The Trojans pushed the lead to five again at 11-6 and never let the Arrows inside of two the rest of the way. Trevecca led by as many as nine (21-12) before taking the first 25-20.

The second set went extra points with the Arrows edging Trojans 29-27. The Arrows led for most of the second set, but the Trojans leveled the match four times late starting with a tie at 24-24. In fact, Trevecca led 27-26, but the Arrows scored three straight for the win.

Trevecca lead the entire third set after building a 8-2 advantage and won going away at 25-15. Trevecca hit .375 in the second set with 14 kills and only two errors in 32 tries.

The fourth set was another battle that seemed to be going the home teams way. After a tight start and an 8-8 tie, the Arrows took the lead. UC led until the Trojans tied the set at 18-18. Trevecca jumped ahead 19-18 after a Janessa Hodge (SO/Nashville, MI) kill capped a 3-0 run. Trevecca led 20-19, but Ursuline scored four straight for a 23-20 lead. Trevecca scored four straight for a 24-23 lead. The match evened again at 24-24 before the Trojans scored two straight for the set and match win.

Katelyn Atkinson (SR/Hermitage, TN) led the way with 16 kills, 11 digs, three assists, and a service ace. Clare Taylor (SO/Milan, TN) added nine kills 12 digs, with four service aces. Miranda Bingham (JR/Safford, AZ) contributed 18 digs and Ashleigh Lozier (JR/Murfreesboro, TN) collected 20. Claire Reinthaler (JR/Heyworth, IL) had eight blocks. Hanna Matthews (FR/Ooltewah, TN) added 36 assists with four blocks, two service aces, and four blocks. Alex Reuter (SO/Brentwood, TN) had seven kills and three blocks. Janessa Hodge had eight kills and five blocks.
