Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (3-4) lost a pair of matches at the 7th Annual Scott Jones Classic. Trevecca faced high powered University of Missouri-St. Louis (4-2) in the first Trojan appearance on Friday and lost in five sets (25-19, 20-25, 19-25, 25-18, 10-15) and turned around to play the University of Alabama in Huntsville (5-1) and lost in four sets (25-23, 19-25, 20-25, 27-29).

Despite losing both matches, some history occurred in the second match between Trevecca and Alabama Huntsville. In the first set Trevecca's Katelyn Atkinson tied and then set the record for career kills. Atkinson passed former Trojan and Trevecca Hall of Famer Michelle Arend Plummer for the most kills in TNU history. Arend-Plummer produced 1369 career kills and Katelyn Atkinson now has 1382 career kills. Plummer held the record for 15 years.ÂÂ

A special presentation will take place prior to the Noon start against Walsh University. Michelle Arend Plummer will be on hand to help pass the record on to Atkinson.

Trevecca won the first set 25-19 and trailed 17-15 in the second set when the Tritons scored four straight for a 21-15 leads and held of the Trojans 25-20 to even the match. In the critical third set the Tritons ran off five unanswered points and led 15-8. Trevecca closed to within two (19-17) with a 9-4 run of their own, but could get no closer as UMSL closed out the set on a 6-2 run.

In the fifth the Tritons opened a 6-2 lead and never let the Trojans to threaten.ÂÂ

Trevecca has a better attack percentage (.190 - .156), but had 11 service errors to just seven for UMSL.

Trevecca on the first set against the Chargers, but only hit .156 in the set. There were five ties and three lead changes in the first set. In the fourth set there were 19 ties and nine lead changes.

Trevecca trailed 22-17 late in the first set, but as Atkinson neared the record the Trojans came to life. Trevecca closed the set with a 8-1 run to take the set.

Atkinson produced a kill to get the serve back and still down 22-18. Atkinson served the Trojans to six consecutive points for a 7-0 Trojan run. After a side out the Trojans got a kill from Clare Taylor for set point and the win.

The Chargers largely controlled the second and third sets. In the fourth set neither team could gain much separation after the Trojans closed a 5-2 UAH advantage
