Box Score MASON, Ohio - The top-seeded Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (33-21) lost to third-seeded Alderson Broaddus University (31-19) in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Baseball Championship game at PRASCO Park on Saturday.

Trevecca senior second baseman Tyler Tichenor (SR/Centertown, KY), who already owns the school record for hits and steals, tied the school record for career runs scored with his two runs on Saturday.

The Battlers went 4-0 during the tournament, ending the Trojans three-year run as G-MAC baseball champions.

As a reward ABU gets the first-ever automatic qualifier spot for a G-MAC team in the NCAA Championship Midwest Regional.

ABU defeated TNU 10-8 in a wild game in Friday's winner's bracket final to put the Trojans in a must-win situation in a second game on Friday against Kentucky Wesleyan. Trevecca would have had to beat ABU twice on Saturday to advance to the regionals.

 Alderson Broaddus let a 5-1 lead turn into a 6-5 Trojan advantage. Unfortunately for the Trojans the Battlers rallied for the second time in two days for the knockout win.

The Battlers scored a pair runs in the top of the first on back-to-back groundouts from Marquis Collier and Cody Cowart with the bases loaded.

Trevecca answered with a RBI double from Bryson Shelton (JR/Powell, TN) in the bottom of the first inning for a 2-1 score.

In the fourth inning, ABU's Luke Shiflett reached on an error and moved to third on a SAC bunt and a groundout. Cam Murray singled to score Shiflett. Jordan Martin followed with a two-run home run for a 5-1 Battler advantage.

Battler starter Koby Overstreet pitched well, but the Trojans got to him in the seventh with a total of five runs for a 6-5 TNU lead.

Clay Staton (JR/Franklin, TN) walked to lead off the inning. Griffin Ganick (SO/Brentwood, TN) singled and Tyler Burns (SO/Tullahoma, TN) reached on an error, scoring Staton. Ryan Arington (JR/Cincinnati, OH) reached on a fielder's choice that saw Ganick forced out at third. Ethan Harrison (FR/Erlanger, KY) singled to score Burns. Tyler Tichenor and Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL) reached on back-to-back walks, scoring Arington. Bryson Shelton followed with a two-run single. The Trojans scored five, but left three men on base after having the bases loaded with only one out.

It is the second time in two days that the Trojans used a big inning to rally to take the lead, only to see the Battler regain the lead and the win.

With two outs in the eighth, Luke Shiflett reached on an error and advanced to second. Tyler Amedure pinch ran and scored when Andrew Holderman singled to tie the game at 6-6 after eight.ÂÂ

The Battlers broke the tie with a three-run ninth. Anthony Monaco walked to leadoff the inning and scored when Cameron Murray doubled. Jordan Martin doubled to score Murray. With two outs Martin had moved to third for Chuck Hooker's RBI-single for what ended up being the 9-6 final score.

 Trevecca put the first two batters on in the bottom of the ninth, but were not able to get them home.

Tyler Tichenor was 1-4 and scored twice with a double, a stolen base, and a walk. Bryson Shelton went 3-5 with three RBI and a double. Griffin Ganick had two hits.

In G-MAC tournament games the Purple and White are 12-3 all-time. The Trojans lost their very first G-MAC tourney game, but had won 12 consecutive games at the event prior to Friday's loss to ABU.

Trevecca is 77-17 versus the Great Midwest Athletic Conference members all-time. The Trojans, the four-time regular season G-MAC champions, are 69-17 in regular season G-MAC contests.
