MASON, Ohio – Top-seeded Trevecca Nazarene University Baseball (32-20) team lost 10-8 in a thrilling 2016 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Baseball Championship Bracket Final matchup 10-8 to third-seeded Alderson Broaddus University (29-19) at Prasco Park.Â

The Trojans were playing as the home team at the neutral site facility.

Trevecca moves to a 5 PM game versus the winner of the loser's bracket final between second-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan College (35-16) and fifth-seeded Ohio Valley University (15-36). KWC and OVU were set to begin play shortly after the conclusion of the TNU/ABU game. ABU awaits the winner in the Championship round set for an 11 AM CT start on Saturday.

Each team scored a run in the fifth for a 4-1 ABU lead. Ryan Arington (JR/Cincinnati, OH) singled to lead off the Trojan fifth and moved to second on a Ethan Harrison (FR/Erlanger, KY) single. Tichenor reached on an error to load the bases. An out later Bryson Shelton (JR/Powell, TN) grounded out to first, but Arington was able to score.Â

Another three-run Battler inning game in the seventh to put ABU up 7-1.

Trevecca exploded for seven runs in the eighth to take the lead for the first time, 8-7. Bryson Shelton opened the inning with a solo home run for a 7-2 ABU lead. Two outs later Griffin Ganick (SO/Brentwood, TN) and Sam Mang (FR/Woodstock, GA) singled before Ryan Arington drove them in with a 3-run home run to cut the Battler lead to 7-5. Ethan Harrison reached on an error and Tyler Tichenor (SR/Centertown, KY) singled ahead of a three-run home run from Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL) for a 8-7 Trojan lead.

ABU regained the lead with a three-run top of the ninth for 10-8 lead.

In the ninth the Trojans got a two-out double from Griffin Ganick and Sam Mang came to the plate as the tying run, but a second Trojan rally was for not.

Ethan Harrison, Tyler Tichenor, Griffin Ganick, and Ryan Arington all had two hits. Blount and Arington each had three RBI. Arington added two runs scored and a walk. Ganick doubled and walked as well.Â

In G-MAC tournament games the Purple and White are 12-2 all-time. The Trojans lost their very first G-MAC game and had won 12 consecutive games at the event.
