Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (17-13) lost for the first time in 10 games on Tuesday to former conference rival Union University (16-16) at Jackson Field.

The loss breaks a 9-game winning streak as the Trojans head back into Great Midwest Athletic Conference play on Friday when they host Salem International University for two games at 1 PM. Saturday the teams will play two games beginning at Noon. Trevecca had not lost to Union in the last 10 meetings. Trevecca is 9-0 all-time versus Salem.

Union plated two runs in the top of the first. Trevecca responded in the bottom half of the inning with a run on a two-out solo home run from Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL).

The Bulldogs broke the game open with a four-run second inning.

Trevecca chipped away with a run in the fourth and sixth innings then Blount connected for a two-run home run in the seventh to pull the Trojans to within one at 6-5.

Trevecca had the tying run on base more than once, but could not get the equalizer. Union added a solo home run in the top of the ninth for the 7-5 final.

Union scored seven with 12 hits and Trevecca added 11 hits.

Jesse Peters (FR/Loveland, OH) started and took the loss (2-2) in two innings of work.

Mac Barns pitched terrific in relief with four innings of shutout baseball to keep the Trojans close. Austin Sisk (SR/Kodak, TN) pitched the final three and allowed two hits and one run. Sisk and Barnes each allowed two hits and had four strikeouts.

Tyler Tichenor (SR/Centertown, KY) and Micah Blount each went 3-5 at the plate. Tichenor scored once. Blount scored twice and had three RBI. Bryson Shelton (JR/Powell, TN) was 2-4 and Ryan Arington (JR/Cincinnati, OH) went 2-3. Shelton had a pair of doubles and Clay Staton (JR/Franklin, TN) had a triple.ÂÂ
