Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (27-16, 16-2) defeated Alderson Broaddus University (24-17, 13-7) in a pair of Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) games, 6-1 and 11-0, on Friday at Jackson Field.

The wins, combined with a Kentucky Wesleyan loss today against Cedarville, moves the Trojans into sole possession of first place in the G-MAC baseball standings. KWC will visit TNU next weekend for a series that will likely determine the regular season championship. KWC is 17-3 on the year in G-MAC play.

The Trojans are 9-2 versus ABU and are on a three-game win streak in the series. Overall, the Purple and White have won 19 of their last 23.

GAME ONE RECAP
In the opener, the Trojans jumped out early scoring two in the bottom of the first. Ethan Harrison (FR/Erlanger, KY) led off the Trojan effort with a double and moved to third on a Tyle Tichenor single. A wild pitch moved Tichenor to second and Bryson Shelton (JR/Powell, TN) loaded the bases on a hit-by-pitch. Zach Tompkins (SR/Mt. Juliet, TN) and Clay Staton (JR/Franklin, TN) were walked consecutively to force in two runs.

Trevecca added three in the second to build a 5-0 advantage. With one away in the Trojan second inning at the plate, Ethan Harrison reached on a walk and Tichenor singeld again. Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL) connected on a three-run home run.

ABU got on the board in the fifth. Luke Shiflett started the inning with an infield single and moved to third when a pick-off attempt from the catcher went into rightfield. Chris Willins drove in Shiflett with a groundout to short trimming the lead to 5-1.

Trevecca added an insurance run in the sixth to set the 6-1 final. Ryan Arington (JR/Cincinnati, OH) singled and moved to second on a stolen base. A Ethan Harrison single moved Arington to third. Tyler Tichenor (SR/Centertown, KY) drove one to right field to score Arington.

Ethan Harrison (2-3), Tyler Tichenor (2-3), and Ryan Arington (2-4) each had two hits. Harrison had a double and a walk while scoring twice. Tichenor scored twice and drove in a run. Arington scored a run and had a stolen base. Micah Blount drove in three with his home run and scored a run.

Bryan Smith (JR/Unionville, TN) picked up the win and is now 6-3 on the year. Smith allowed six hits and one unearned run in eight innings of work. He walked one with five strikeouts.

GAME TWO RECAPÂÂ
In the second game, the Trojans used an eight-run third to propel them to an 11-0 win.

Trevecca scored two in the second. Zach Tomkins, Clay Staton, and Griffin Ganick (SO/Brentwood, TN) hit consecutive singles with one out in the inning to set up Tyler Burns (SO/Tullahoma, TN) two-run single that scored Tompkins and Staton for a 2-0 Trojan lead.

In the third inning Trevecca scored eight. Tyler Tichenor led off the Trojan third with a single then scored on Micah Blount's second homer of the day. Bryson Shelton singled and Zach Tompkins drove one over the left field fence for back-to-back two-run homers. With two away Griffin Ganick single and stole second and moved to third on a passed ball. Tyler Burns walked and Ryan Arington doubled to score both. Arington advanced to third when the ball got lose on the throw to home plate. Ethan Harrison doubled to score Arington. A balk moved Harrison to third. Tyler Tichenor doubled, scoring Harrison for an 8-run inning and a 10-0 Trojan lead.

Trevecca had 14 hits and no errors while ABU had two hits and two errors. Ryan Arington led off with a single the moved to third where he scored on a Micah Blount SAC fly.

Randy Dobnak (5-2), one of the best hurlers in the G-MAC, took the loss allowing nine runs on 10 hits while striking out four. He entered the game with a 1.64 earned run average on the year.

John Bolton (JR/Nolensville, TN) pitched the complete game, his third of the year, and recorded his first shutout of the year. Bolton improved to 6-2 on the year with 10 strikeouts and allowed just two hits and two walks.

Tyler Tichenor went 3-4 with a run scored, an RBI, and a double. Ryan Arington (2-3), Griffin Ganick (2-4), and Zach Tompkins (2-3) also gained two hits. Tompkins scored twice and drove in two with his home run. Arington scored twice and drove in two with a double. ÂÂ
