Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Trevecca Nazarene (23-13, 7-1 G-MAC) picked up on Saturday, where they had left off on Friday versus Davis & Elkins College (16-10, 2-4 G-MAC) to take the last two of the series. In the first game shut out, Brantley led TNU to a 3-0 win and then dominated game two for an 8-1 final.

The Trojans will host Kentucky Wesleyan College (4-17, 1-2 G-MAC) for a double header on Wednesday, March 30 at 4 PM. TNU leads the all-time series, 10-7.

GAME ONE

With runs in the first, third and fourth, TNU shutout D&E, 3-0.

Haley Fagan (SR/Cornersville, Tenn.) (15-9) set the tone in the top of the first inning grabbing the last two outs with back-to-back strikeouts to shut down the Senators.

Ansley Brantley (SR/Kite, Ga.) hit a lead off single to start the base running in the bottom of the first. She wasted no time by stealing second and two sacrifices, a bunt from Tana Whited (FR/Lebanon, TN) and a fly from Alex Richardson (JR/Ten Mile, Tenn.), brought Brantley home. TNU put the first run on the board and claimed the lead, 1-0, after one complete inning.

Three up, three down in the top, it was Brantley again in the bottom of the third who increased the Trojan lead with a solo home run, 2-0.

Davis & Elkins came closest to scoring in the top of the fourth inning. Taylor Norton made her way to third, after walking, on a Taylor Norton double. She was the only runner to touch third base for the Senators but Fagan pulled out the strikes to end it.

Working for it a little more in the fourth, Caitlyn Hudgins (FR/Springfield, TN) took first base with a single. Pinch runner, Maddux Reid (FR/Bourbonnais, IL), advanced to second when Lapallo walked Griner. Reid came home, 3-0, on a Kat Burbrink (SO/Hamilton, Ohio) single. Davis & Elkins cut the Trojans short by tagging Burbrink out on her way to second trying to extend her single to a double with the throw home.

Haley Fagan pitched all seven innings for her 14th complete game of the season and her third shutout. She has five strikeouts and walked two while only letting five hits.

The Trojans had nine hits and two errors to the Senators five hits, no errors. D&E left eight runners stranded while TNU only left three.

Ansley Brantley was 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Jordan Griner (SR/Mulberry, Tenn.) was 1-for-1 with one walk. Kat Burbrink was 1-for-2 with one RBI. Maddux Reid scored the other run of the game.

GAME TWO

GAME TWO

Trevecca took an early lead with three runs in the first inning, they doubled their lead with four more in the fifth and added one final run in the sixth. Davis & Elkins plated their only run of the game in the third inning.

Ansley Brantley connected for a lead off single and went on to steal second before Tana Whited sacrificed the bunt to get her to third. Brantley scored with no trouble on an Alex Richardson bunt single. Shelby Andrew brought Richardson home with her when she lifted a homer over left field. The Trojans took the lead, 3-0, after one complete.

It was a scoreless second and a scoreless fourth for both teams but in the middle, Davis & Elkins scored one run on one hit and one error in the top of the third.

The Trojans batted their entire lineup in the fifth and warranted a pitching change. It started with a Whited double. Then Richardson was hit by a pitch and Andrews reached on an error at second base which gave Whited enough time to sneak home, 4-1. A Caitlyn Hudgins single drove in Richardson and Andrews, 6-1. Savanah Carr pinch ran for Hudgins and stole second before Maddux Reid, who pinch hit for Griner, walked. With runners on first and second, a single from Kat Burbrink was enough to bring in Carr, 7-1.

After three up, three down for the Senators in the top of six, Whited hit another lead off double and scored on a single from Hudgins.

Sammie Jo Ivy came in to pitch in the seventh for TNU. She struck out her first batter and walked the next. Her defense had her back, tagging out the lead runner with the fielder's choice. D&E's designated player, Manson, managed a single to put runners on first and second but Ivy pulled through with the strikeout and the final out for TNU to take the win, 8-1.

Alex Richardson was 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Tana Whited was 2-for-3 with two runs. Caitlyn Hudgins was 2-for-4 with three RBI. Ansley Brantley, Danielle Tyson, and Savannah Carr all had stolen bases.

Haley Fagan (15-9) put in six innings of work with four strikeouts and only walked one. Sammie Jo Ivy pitched the final inning with two strikeouts and walked one.
