NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Trevecca Nazarene University Trojan baseball team (7-8) split a double header at Jackson Field on Saturday with the visiting Bellarmine University Knights baseball team (6-7). The Knights, an in-region opponent from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, used 16 hits and four Trojan errors to take game one 18-2. Trevecca used a 4-run first and a standout start from John Bolton (JR/Nolensville, TN) to take game two 4-3.

Trevecca entertains the ninth-ranked Chargers of University of Alabama in Huntsville (17-6) for a single game beginning at 6 PM on Wednesday at Jackson Field.

GAME ONE RECAP

Bellarmine scored all 18 of its runs in the first six innings. Trevecca scored its two runs in the sixth inning and scattered seven hits and left eight men on base.

The Knights, who now lead the all-time series 2-3, scored 14 in the middle three (4, 5, 6) innings.

BU scored three in the second, one in the third, four in the fourth, sixth in the fifth and four in the sixth against the Purple and White.

Ethan Harrison (FR/Erlanger, KY) opened the sixth with a single, but was erased on a fielder's choice by Tyler Tichenor (SR/Centertown, KY). Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL) followed with a two-run home run.

Ivey Starling (SR/Brentwood, TN) started and took the loss (2-2). Starling pitched four innings and allowed 10 hits and eight runs – five earned, with a walk and two strikeouts.

Micah Blount was 2-3 at the plate with a run scored, a home run, and two RBI. Bryson Shelton (JR/Powell, TN) was 3-4 with a double.

Michael Messier (2-1) started and got the win in the first game for BU. The junior left-hander allowed six hits and two earned runs while striking out five and walking none in 6.0 innings pitched.

GAME TWO RECAP

Trevecca scored all four of its runs in the second game in the first inning. The Trojans had five extra-base hits, including two homers, in their half of the first.

Ethan Harrison opened the inning with a double. Tyler Tichenor drove him home with a triple. Micah Blount allowed Tichenor to walk home with his two-run home run. An out later Zach Tompkins (SR/Mt. Juliet, TN) hit a solo home fur for a 4-0 Trojan lead. .

Bellarmine scored a run in the fifth on an RBI double by center fielder Jes Staples to cut the Trojan lead to 4-1.

Trevor Lines and Cole Metcalfe both had RBI singles in the seventh, cutting the Trojan lead to 4-3.

John Bolton started and pitched six innings for the win (3-1). Austin Sisk (SR/Kodak, TN) came on in the seventh to get his third save of the year after retiring the Knights with the game-tying and go-head runs on base.

Ethan Harrison had at least one hit in each of the three games in the series. He was 2-3 with a run scored and two doubles in game two. Micah Blount was 2-3 with a run scored, two RBI, and a home run. Tyler Burns (SO/Tullahoma, TN) had a touble and Carter Wiseman (SO/Hendersonville, TN) had a walk after reaching twice on a hit-by-pitch.
