Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Trevecca Nazarene University baseball team (6-2) knocked off a pair of Midwest region opponents in non-conference action on Saturday. The No. 21 (D2BaseballNews) Trojans defeated Wayne State University (0-3) 9-4 and Walsh University (2-4) 8-2 at Jackson Field.

Trevecca visits the University of Alabama in Huntsville on Wednesday, March 2 for a single game. TNU is 1-5 all-time versus the Chargers (details). Trevecca plays three games Friday and Saturday, March 4-5 at the University of Southern Indiana (details). Trevecca plays the host Screaming Eagles at 2 PM Friday, March 4 and then again on Saturday, March 5 at 11 AM. At 4 PM Saturday, the Trojans will take on Wayne State again. It is the first meeting for TNU and USI. ÂÂ

GAME ONE: WAYNE STATE, 9-4 WIN
The Warriors of Wayne State jumped out to 2-0 lead with a run in the second and third innings. Trevecca is 3-1 versus Wayne State all-time.

Trevecca responded with a run in their half of the third and four more in the fourth.

In the third, Micah Blount (SR/Birmingham, AL) drove in Tyler Tichenor (SR/Centertown, KY) with a double. Tichenor reached on a single and advanced with a stolen base, and to third on a wild pitch.

In the fourth Zach Tompkins (SR/Mt. Juliet, TN) hit a lead off single. Chad Sutton (SO/Independence, MO) singed with one out before Ryan Arington (JR/Cincinnati, OH) tripled to drive in both runners. Carter Wiseman (SO/Hendersonville, TN) reached on an error then stole second. Tyler Tichenor singled to drive in both runners.

Trevecca scored again in the fifth with a single run. Micah Blount reached on a single to open the inning. Blount scored after stealing second, advancing to third on a Zach Tompkins ground out, and then scored on a balk.

A three-run sixth inning for the Trojans made it four straight innings with a crooked number for the home team and a 9-2 lead. Ryan Arington singled with a bunt and advanced on a balk. Carter Wiseman singled and an out later Friffin Ganick singled to score Arington. Micah Blount followed with a two-run double.

WSU put two across the plate in the seventh for the 9-4 final.

TNU had 14 hits and four errors while the visitor shad four hits and an error.

Ivey Starling (SR/Brentwood, TN) improved to 2-0 with six innings of work. Starling allowed three hits, two runs – one earned, a walk, and had eight strikeouts. Austin Sisk (SR/Kodak, TN) picked up hit second save with three innings of work that included a strike out and allowed one hit, two runs, and a walk.

GAME TWO: WALSH UNIVERSITY, 8-2 WIN
Trevecca opened the scoring with a three-run second inning. Micah Blount opened the inning with a solo home run. Ethan Hurt (JR/Pegram, TN) followed with a single and moved up on Chad Sutton's single. An out later Hurt and Sutton advanced with a double stolen base. Clay Staton (JR/Franklin, TN) drove them both in with a two-run double.

The Cavaliers plated two in the sixth, but Trevecca scored four in their half of the inning for a 7-2 lead. Chad Sutton reached on a walk with two out. Tyler Burns (SO/Tullahoma, TN) singled to move Sutton to third. Clay Staton walked to load the bases for Ryan Arington, The junior shortstop doubled, driving in two. Tyler Tichenor singled to drive in Burns and Staton.

The Purple and White added on final run in the seventh. Micah Blount reached on a one-out double and then stole third. Chad Sutton drove Blount in with a single.

John Bolton (JR/Nolensville, TN) moved to 2-0 on the year with 5.2 innings of work that included nine strikeouts and only one walk. Bolton allowed five hits with two unearned runs. Christian Lohr (SO/Verona, KY) pitched a hitless 1.1 inning. Jesse Peters (FR/Loveland, OH) had a shutout inning with two strikeouts while Mason Dunn (SR/Goodlettsville, TN) pitched a perfect ninth with a strikeout.
