Â
A lead off walk for Ansley Brantley (SR/Kite, Ga.) turned into a run. A Danielle Tyson (SO/Smithville, Tenn.) bunt single advanced Brantley to second and an error from the second baseman on the throw gave her the time to get to third. Tyson acted quick and stole second to put two Trojans in scoring position. Another bunt single, this time off the bat of Alex Richardson (JR/Ten Mile, Tenn.), brought Brantley in and left Tyson on third. Tyson came home on a Caitlin Hudgins groundout and a sacrifice fly sent Richardson across home plate to put TNU up, 3-0, after one complete inning.Â
Â
After a scoreless second inning, Brantley led the bottom of the third inning with a solo home run. Tyson took a bag courtesy of a third base error and advanced on a Richardson sacrifice bunt. Another Trojan in scoring position was enough for Coach Frost to call back in UIndy's nationally ranked Morgan Foley to pitch in the circle. Foley walked Hudgins but struck out the next batters to cut the action short.
Â
Two innings later, UIndy came back to score five runs in the top of the sixth and take the lead, 5-4, only to increase it in the top of a the sixth with a home run, 6-4.
Â
Brantley got on base again for Trevecca with a single, advanced on a Tyson sacrifice, and came home on a Richardson single, but Foley held the Trojans there with her tenth strikeout to finish the game, 6-5.
