Box Score 2 MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The Trevecca Softball (3-1) team headed south for the Montevallo Falcon Frenzy. They opened play in the tournament facing the host University of Montevallo Falcons (2-7) and took the win in run-rule style, 10-2, and followed with another win over Stillman College (0-4), 7-3, on Friday night.

GAME ONE vs Montevallo

Trevecca scored five in the first, three in the second, and one in the third and fifth innings for the win. Montevallo scored two in the fifth. Trevecca had 10 hits and one error while the Falcons had five hits and one error.

Mary Collins (FR/Collierville, TN) ripped a double in the top of the first inning with two outs, bases loaded to bring in three runs and take the lead for the Trojans 3-0. Kat Burbrink (SO/Hamilton, Ohio) followed up with a two run homer to increase the Trojan lead to 5-0. Jordan Griner (SR/Mulberry, Tenn.) made a quick play on the third out second to catch the runner stealing and hold the Falcons scoreless after one full inning, 5-0.

A Bailey Alexander (SO/Glasgow, Ky.) double brought in Kelsie Craighead (SO/Mt. Juliet, TN) who reached on a second baseman error to put the Trojans up 6-0 in the top of the second inning. Alexander scored on an Alex Richardson (JR/Ten Mile, Tenn.) double before Richardson faced a rundown from second to third for an out. Shelby Andrews (SR/Dyersburg, Tenn.) followed with a solo home run to finish the top of the second up, 8-0.ÂÂ

Collins led the third inning with a double down the left field line, advanced on a Burbrink sacrifice bunt and scored on a Craighead single for the lone run of the third inning, 9-0.

After a scoreless fourth inning, Ansley Brantley (SR/Kite, Ga.) hit a solo home run to put TNU into double digits, 10-0. Kelsey Vinning swung a double in the bottom of the fifth to bring in the first run for Montevallo. They added another before the end of the fifth to finish, 10-2.

Trevecca had three homers in the game. Shelby Andrews, Ansley Brantley, and Kat Burbrink all left the yard. Trevecca had five doubles. Bailey Alexander, Alex Richardson, and Kaitlin Crumpler (JR/Smyrna, Tenn.) all had a double and Mary Collins had two doubles.ÂÂ

Richardson and Collins were 2-for-3. Collins has two runs scored and three RBI. Burbrink had two RBI. Brantley and Alexander each joined Collins scoring twice.

GAME TWO vs Stillman

After Stillman scored the first run of the game, Mary Collins ripped a ball to the left field all the way to the scoreboard for a solo home run, evening the score 1-1 in the top of the second.ÂÂ

Alex Richardson hit a double in the top of the third, driving in and replacing Ansley Brantley who had lead-off the inning with a double, giving the Trojans the lead, 2-1.ÂÂ

The Trojans had a great defensive inning in the fifth with a diving catch at third from Bailey Alexander, a line drive was stopped by the last inch of five-foot 11 Ansley Brantley at short, and a calmly played ground out by pitcher Sammie Jo Ivy (SO/Enville, Tenn. ) shut down the Tigers.ÂÂ

Shelby Andrews started the action in the sixth inning with a lead-off single. Andrews stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Mary Collins single which prompted a pitching change. Ivy helped herself out with the first of three hits in a row for the Trojans. Collins scored on a Caitlin Hudgins single. Tana Whited (FR/Lebanon, TN) tripled TNU's advantage to 6-1, with a two-run (Hudgins, Ivy) single. Alexander added one more single in that half of the inning for good measure.

Stillman added two more in the bottom of the sixth.

Andrews hit a triple to the left field fence, hanging out at third long enough to catch her breath before sliding into home plate following a wild pitch, capping the game off at 7-3 in the seventh.

Collins hit two-for-four with two runs and two RBI. Andrews was two-for-four with two runs and a stolen base.ÂÂ

Both teams left nine runners on base. TNU had three errors to one Stillman misque and TNU collected 13 hits to seven for Stillman.ÂÂ

Sammie Jo Ivy (2-0) pitched 5.2 innings to let six hits and three runs with four strikeouts and only one walk. Morgan Powell (FR/Mt. Juliet, TN) pitched 1.1 innings, let one hit and had two strikeouts to earn her second save.
