Volleyball | Trevecca Season and Atkinson Career End @ G-MAC

MASON, Ohio - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (16-13) season ended Thursday night as Ursuline College (17-14) defeated the Trojans in four sets (24-26,25-23,16-25,18-25) in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship quarterfinal.
 
The first set saw that neither team hold the lead by more than three points during the set. The last three-point lead was Trevecca at 11-8, but the Trojans saw that lead slip away as the Arrows edged TNU for the victory.  
 
The Trojans built a six-point lead on the Arrows (16-10) in the second set. Later, Trevecca reached set-point up 24-19. The Arrows made the Trojans nervous, closing the set to just one point at 24-23. Trevecca did close out the set 25-23.
 
The Trojans lost the next two sets as the Arrows took early leads in both sets and did not let the defending G-MAC champion Trojans close the gap.
 
In her final Trevecca match, Katelyn Atkinson (SR/Hermitage, TN) led Trevecca with 19 kills and a .245 attack percentage. Atkinson added 16 digs and three assists for a total of 21 points in the match.

Atkinson finishes her career with several notable marks and records. She is the Trevecca all-time kills leader with 1705. Her kills per set is 3.80 and leaves with 150 assists, 118 service aces, 1294 digs, and 217 blocks. Her career points total is 1943. Atkinson will finish with G-MAC records and finishes with the second most kills in conference history.

Clare Taylor (SO/Milan, TN) contributed a double double with 12 kills and 16 digs, while Hanna Matthews (FR/Ooltewah, TN) set up the offense with 40 assists. Alex Reuter (SO/Brentwood, TN) also hit double digits in kills with 11 and a .280 attack percentage. Miranda Bingham (JR/Safford, AZ) added 12 digs.
