OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (12-6, 5-0 G-MAC) defeated Kentucky Wesleyan College (7-9, 2-3 G-MAC) 3-0 (25-17, 26-24, 25-12) at the Panthers Jones Gym. 

The Trojans are on a seven-match winning streak.  

With the first set tied 8-8, the Trojans used a 7-2 run to gain separation and a 15-10 lead. Trevecca built a 21-13 led before taking the 25-17 victory

Neither team managed to pull away by more than two points until Trevecca turned a 19-18 lead into a 24-20 advantage with a 5-2 run. The Panthers tied the match at 24, but Trevecca earned a side out and then closed with two straight for a 26-24 win. 

The third set opened with a 6-1 Trojan lead and continued to pull away for a 25-12 victory. 

The Trojans are 6-6 verses Kentucky Wesleyan College all time, winning their last four matches in the series.

Katelyn Atkinson (SR/Hermitage, TN) led the team with 15 kills on the night while digging out six attacks and blocking one. Clare Taylor (SO/Milan, TN) collected seven kills with no errors and a .368 attack percentage. Ashleigh Lozier (JR/Murfreesboro, TN) led the team with 12 digs. Hanna Matthews (FR/Ooltewah, TN) added another 33 assists to her totals and had nine digs. Janessa Hodge (SO/Nashville, MI) turned in a .268 attack percentage with seven kills and two solo blocks. 

Trevecca hit for an incredible .522 in the third set with 13 kills and one error in 23 total attacks. For the match Trevecca hit .307 with 40 kills against nine errors in 101 total attacks.   

Trevecca returns to action on October 14-15 at the Mizuno Midwest Region Crossover in Chicago, IL. Opponents for this crossover come from the G-MAC, GLIAC, and the GLVC. The times and match-ups are to be announced by this weekend. G-MAC teams participating are Trevecca, Cedarville University, Davis & Elkins College, Malone University, and Alderson Broaddus University.
