Trevecca Men's Soccer | Trojan Eliminated in G-MAC Quarterfinals @ Alderson Broaddus

PHILIPPI, W.Va. - The Trevecca Nazarene University men's soccer team (7-10-1, 5-6-1 G-MAC) were defeated by Alderson Broaddus Battlers (9-7-2, 7-5 G-MAC) 2-0 in a Great-Midwest Athletic Conference quarterfinal playoff match at the Multi-Sport Performance Stadium.

 

The loss ends the season for the Trojans and the collegiate careers for seniors Jordan Gilmore (SR/Portadown, Northern Ireland), Ryan Hogan (SR/Ballincollig, Ireland), Baylor McKay (SR/Brentwood, TN), Danny Martinez (SR/Nashville, TN), Jeremiah Wright (SR/Columbia, TN), and Liam Roche (SR/Northampton, England)

 

The match remained scoreless until the Battlers scored the game winner in the 80th minute (79:49) on a Shavon John-Brown pass to Haris Miftari.

 

In the 90th minute (89:22), with the Trojans pressing for the equalizer, Shavon John-Brown scored on a pass from Ashley Sibisi creating the final score of 2-0 in favor of the Battlers.

 

 The Trojans had seven shots with three of them being on goal.

 

Tyler Delgado (FR/Spring Hill, TN) had seven saves in the match while the team had blocked a shot on goal.

 

The Trojans are now 2-5 overall against the Battlers all-time.

 

Coach Danny Leavy, the fourth Trevecca coach in program history, completes his eighth season and has the most wins in program history. Leavy has a career record of 56-77-6 overall and is 25-37-2 in conference play.

 

Jon Curtis had four wins in his only season in 1992. When the program restarted in 2000, Stan Herod produced 22 wins in his four seasons. Jeff Carr was next and had 30 wins in five years.

 

Since the Trojans joined the G-MAC Leavy and the Trojans are 19-22-2 in G-MAC play.

 

This completes the 18th season for Trevecca men's soccer and the program has an all-time overall record of 112-183-21. In conference play the Trojans are 46-74-6.

 

Nicolas Reinhard (SO/Heiligkreuzsteinach, Germany) led Trevecca with eight goals and added four assists for a team-high 20 points. Jeremiah Wright added five goals and a team-high seven assists and the second most points on the team at 17. Kevin Pierce (FR/Franklin, TN) and Baylor McKay each at 10 points and did so with four goals and two assists.  Frank Down (JR/Ballincollg, Ireland) and Luis Vital (SO/Springfield, TN) each added four assists.

 

Freshman Tyler Delgado led the way in goal with a 7-8-1 record and had a 1.83 goals against average and a 70.8% save percentage with 68 saves and two shutouts.
