Box Score AURORA, Ill. - The Trevecca Nazarene University volleyball team (12-7, 5-0 G-MAC) were defeated by Quincy University Hawks (11-8, 5-4 GLVC) in five sets sets (21-25, 25-21, 25-14, 16-25,) at the 2016 Mizuno Midwest Regional Crossover. This was the first match between the two teams in their existence.

Trevecca coach Jayme Crowley said, "We lost a hard fought match today 13-15 in the 5th set. Both teams were equally matched. Ashleigh Lozier had a great defensive performance with 25 digs. Our stats were solid but we lost at the serving game. We need to be able to sustain our focus consistently over the long haul. We look forward to more opportunities to prove ourselves tomorrow at this prestigious event."

Trevecca led 10-5 in the first set until Quincy came back and tied it up at 17-17. Quincy continued the momentum until the end of the set where they won 25-21.

Trevecca came back in the second set to even up the match at one set apiece. The Trojans were down 15-18 and closed out the set on a 10-3 run.

In the third set the Trojans kept their winning ways. With the set tied 7-7 the Trojans had a 14-10 lead and they went on a 11-3 run to end the third set.

In the fourth set Trevecca led 14-11 until the Hawks used a 14-2 run for the win and forced a fifth set.

Down 3-9 in the fifth, Trevecca rallied with four straight points to make it 7-9. With Quincy up 9-13, another 4-0 run put the Trojans within one, but the rally came up short as Quincy was able to hold on 15-13.

Clare Taylor (SO/Milan, TN) led the team in kills with 21 right behind her was Katelyn Atkinson (SR/Hermitage, TN) with 20 kills and 16 digs. Hanna Matthews (FR/Ooltewah, TN) had 48 assists, and Ashley Lozier (SR/Murfreesboro, TN) had a team high 25 digs.

Trevecca returns to action tomorrow at 10 AM at the Mizuno Regional Crossover when they face the Drury University Panthers (13-6, 6-3 GLVC). The Trojans will conclude play at 4 PM on Saturday against #12 Lewis University Flyers (15-3, 9-0 GLVC).
