Box Score CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Trevecca volleyball team (4-6) lost on the road at Lee University (4-1) in three sets, 20-25, 25-27, 21-25 at Walker Arena.

The Trojans stay on the road, playing six consecutive matches on the road. The next home game is October 6 against King University. Next up is a trip to Kentucky Wesleyan, but they won't play the Panthers, but instead Urbana University and Noon.Â

Jayme Crowley said, "We didn't hit consistently and that is an area we need to improve to be able to improve. If we can begin to hit more consistently we'll have greater success finishing off sets and matches for wins."Â
Lee and Trevecca have been conference foes on a couple of occassions. Most recently they were each in the TranSouth Athletic Conference of the NAIA before both moved on to NCAA Division II play. The Flames are in the Gulf South Conference. Â

Trevecca took the lead to open the match, but Lee scored four straight for a 4-1 advantage and eventually pulled ahead 7-4. Trevecca regained the lead 10-8 on a 6-1 run. Lee chipped away and built a 18-15 advantage that they would not resend and took the set 25-20.

The second set witnessed 14 ties and eight lead changes. TNU got down 3-1, but pulled ahead 4-3 with three straight points in what would be a preview of the ebb and flow of the second set. Neither team held more than a two-point advantage again until a Makayla Beebe service ace put the Flames up 20-17. Trevecca battled back served for the set twice, first up 24-23 after a service ace by
Clare Taylor (FR/Milan, TN) and then again at 25-24, but the Flames rallied on the home court both times to extend the set and then secure the win in extra points, 27-25.

The third set was nearly as tight though there were fewer ties and lead changes. The set was tied a 11-11 when Lee created some separation with a 5-1 run and led 16-12. Trevecca cut the Lee advantage to one or two on several occasions, but did not tie the match up or take the lead the rest of the way. The Flames closed with a two straight to seal the 25-21 win.

Katelyn Atkinson (JR/Hermitage, TN), the G-MAC Athlete of the Week, tallied 14 kills and a .278 attack percentage and added 14 digs to lead the way for the Trojans.
Loren Bennett (SR/Ooltewah, TN) set for 27 assists.
Alex Reuter (FR/Brentwood, TN) had eight blocks (1 solo, 7 assists).Â
